Iranian did a great job of defeating Saddam. The one who had been armed heavily by Soviet union and strongly had been backed by western diplomacy.
But to be honest I am not with that 1 day, 1 day, ... thing. someone has tried to zip the history, I think.
Russian empire was one of the strongest & largest recent empires in the world history, surpassed in landmass only by the British aempire.
Russo-Iranian Wars:
1- 1722–1723 Iran surrenders to Russia
2- 1796 Russians withdraw after conquering parts of Iran, tactical Russian victory, strategic Iranian victory
3- 1804–1813, 9 years war, Iran surrenders, Russian victory (Golestan Treaty)
4- 1826–1828 tactical Russian victory (Turkmenchay Treaty)
Iran's population was around 10M on that era, and the casualties of the war 1804–1813 were around 700,000 (200,000 Russian and 500,000 Iranian) on the bases of some Russian army's documents. Unfortunately Iranian army suffered from a serious lack of technology compared to Russian army.
