A Bangladeshi engineer who helps build F-35 fighter jets

All good thoughts, but somewhere I heard that you need a very large market for a product locally, which you plan to sell overseas.

We can start with making doors or empennages or small panels once set up - and be a supplier for Boeing or Airbus. This is what India does now, commercially. Both Mahindra and Tata are in that business.

Indonesia set up Dirgantara in the 70's but had issues selling planes overseas. They are a very large market for commuter airliners, being how far flung their islands are.

@Indos, I don't want to speak for Indonesia or Dirgantara but hopefully you can.

Talking about competing Boeing and Airbus, actually Indonesia has already tried to do it since middle of 1990's with N 2130 project, but due to Asian Financial Crisis we need to borrow money from IMF and the condition from IMF is that government must stop funding Indonesian Aerospace, this is the reason 2 Indonesian ambitious program which are N 250 (has already flown 300 hours) and N 2130 are cancelled. N 2130 has already undergone wind tunnel testing during the end of 1990's.

The IPTN N-2130 was a proposed 80-130 passenger commuter airliner of original design by IPTN (now Indonesian Aerospace). The N-2130 was estimated to cost two billion US dollars. The project was cancelled in 1998 due to the Asian financial crisis. The aircraft has similarities with the Boeing 737 and Airbus A318.

At least the Indonesians care about their image , while Bangladesh just don't care about it's self anymore.

By the way that's a very nice looking aircraft

It is in wind tunnel, never see how it look like in decent model. The project manager is Ilham Habibie, Habibie oldest son who is now developing R 80 passenger plane under PT RAI Aviasi.

So I said in my post: "there must be 10,000 engineers worked on F-35 project"

was deleted with the reason "why so much hate"

I am sure this must be a BD enforcer on PDF, when does saying truth becomes hate??

Dude, I would have said the same if this was about a Pakistani because I feel this very insulting for a country to celebrate such a minute achievement, such as things like my country went down on poverty index from 120 to 119....This childish mentality will get us no where.

Nobody is celebrating it, they're just writing an article on it to motivate the younger readers.

I can find XYZ articles and threads on PDF that show people celebrating even more trivial things as a big 'victory'...

Salt is not good.

Why are you taking offence at me just clarifying the reasoning behind the original post and the news article ? Did you come here with the agenda to be salty ?

@JamD this is a great example why 'HawaBus' should be a thing. I mean, there's some kind of capacity everywhere, but there's no 'guarantor' to keep projects alive when the gov't is unable to. Moreover, the UAE is a good example of what can happen when you mobilize the creation of a major firm -- you get private investors (from your own lands, instead of money going into lands via real estate development).

Unfortunately, the ROI is a big question mark because, sadly, our governments are not inclined to buy local. That is less of an issue with defence (due to ITAR and other restrictions), so if there's a starting point for 'HawaBus' it'd be with NGFAs and UCAVs, basically.

Yes but
Too many people hate each other in our part of the world and only very few of us are industrialized enough.
If you see fishes fighting in the pond, the British have been there- Turkish proverb

Europe had to become friends with each other for Airbus. This is what our part of the world looks like:
