There is no record of slavery ever existing in the Indian subcontinent. Hinduism does not sanction or condone slavery.

Megathanes during his visit ( around 4th century BC) has recorded his amazement and has said there was no slavery in India.

In Arthasastra written in 321 BC (verse (3.13), clearly talks about punishment for slave owners.

Better you read history again.
