According to the latest report by Worldwide Financial Fund (IMF), about 200 million of Pakistanis cannot ‘afford’ the internet. The stats on a bigger sphere are graver – declaring 4.2 billion of the total world population being unable to avail or afford the internet. The number of total internet users across the globe is 3.2 billion.

The report has exposed the truth behind government’s claims of expanding the broadband services across the whole country by the year 2018, Pakistan has been named among the top 10 countries with the highest number of people having no access to the internet or cannot afford it. The list goes as follows:

India – 1.1 billion of the population cannot afford or access the internet

China – 0.7 billion of the population cannot afford or access the internet

Indonesia – 0.2 billion of the population cannot afford or access the internet

Pakistan – 0.2 billion of the population cannot afford or access the internet

Bangladesh – 0.1 billion of the population cannot afford or access the internet

Nigeria – 0.1 billion of the population cannot afford or access the internet

Brazil – 0.1 billion of the population cannot afford or access the internet

Ethiopia – 0.1 billion of the population cannot afford or access the internet

The report, however, has brought to notice the issue that needs urgent addressal. Especially in the present era where the world community has developed into a global village, the internet has eradicated all cultural, social and geographical barriers; being a window to look outside stay updated with what’s happening.
The report has also suggested the governments should tax the incomes of global companies like Google and Facebook.

The European countries have started considering the issue critically, improving their measures towards digitalization. As believed, digitalization has a prime role in smoothly functioning governments as it aids in reaching to the people, conveying to them and in a more efficient policy-making process.

. . . . . . . . . .
Ur data would have given a clearer view of the whole situation if u had presented the data of other countries in a percentage form.

On my last trip, I saw chachas (uncles) and dadas (grandpas) using internet in the villages and posting their latest selfies riding a tractor to the fb and instagram. ...:D:D
What weed is this IMF chief smoking?
Actually I wished Pakistanis had little less access to the internet and spent more time on interacting with the real friends than the virtual clowns.
