PanARMENIAN.Net - Syrian troops backed by Russian air strikes have advanced in Aleppo, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Armenia’s Social Democrat Hunchakian Party told reporters Thursday, October 22, Tert.am reports.

“80% of Aleppo is near liberated, with the remaining part to be hopefully freed soon,” Vazgen Mesropyan said.

According to him, the U.S. and European airstrikes were unsuccessful.

“Unable to fight the 1500-member terrorist front, the Syrian army turned to Russia for help. We think Aleppo will thoroughly be liberated in 4-6 months,” Mesropyan noted.

He also said some 7000-8000 Armenian currently live in Aleppo against the over 40.000 Armenians that resided there before the war.

According to him, only some 1000 out of some 10.000 Syrian Armenians have jobs in Armenia.

More than 100 Armenians have been killed in the course of the four-year civil war in Syria, he said, with many more wounded.

The roaring mouse Qatar is threatening to intervene lol.

a good part of qatari land forces gained experience in the libya war and i am sure most of those have been fighting in syria alongside the moderate terrorists... the qatari threat must be based on such experienced people.

but syrian forces are larger than libyan forces and syria doesn't have the limitation of the shell-shocked libyan citizens.

and it is funny to think of qatar making this threat after russia has entered the game.

We will liberate Syria but it will take time. Patience is needed.

And the day you liberate Syria, remember to execute Assad as wel for his treatment of the civilian population

the only way forward for syria in post-war scenario is to deepen its socialism-based governance and move into direct-democracy... bashar al-assad would do well to read the "green book" and look at the live experiment in that direction in venezeula, then arrange for delegation of power to the people.

as for the current opposition, all legitimate opposers, except for reactionaries like from "muslim" brotherhood, will have to be given place in discussions ( not decisions directly ) and himself step down as president and instead become a revolutionary guide in the system.

syria needs to move towards truer socialism, truer democracy.

Syria is a mess right now and I hope the country stays intact and is back on its feet.

West's inclination to fund terrorists to change regimes they dont like must be stopped. I support Russia on this. Russia must undertake ruthless bombing of terrorists of all shades. It should also encourage Assad to open a political dialogue.

There was no doubt resistance and dissent against Assad. But it does not mean outsiders must begin funding terror and make this dissent an opportunity to topple a regime.
