62% Bangladeshi users to have smartphones by 2025: Report

@The Eagle bhai, 90% of the posts by these posters in Bangladeshi section is for uninvited provoking and troll-bait purposes.

Basically trying to disrupt discussion of Bangladeshi issues.

Posts of no constructive value to add except posting negative things about Bangladesh and Bangladeshis. Their jealousy knows no bounds.

A time-waster, if you all want my opinion. Go to their profiles and "Ignore" these people, I have.

I don't see their posts anymore....
Indians want validation. Problems is no one want to...why should they?

Indian export is less then that of hong kong or Taiwan lol.

You cant get global recognition by being a shit hole.

This Indian troll literary has no shame. He is parroting same thing despite got busted yesterday.

Smartphone average price 7000 taka? First question is how many sets are there which cost below 7000 taka?

This is the website of Gramednphone where list of handsets are included that they are offering which includes the price:

This is from Walton:

There is a 57% import duty on handsets. Reporting of 7000 taka is a clear indication of under invoicing to evade tax.

Plus regarding number of smart phone purchase each year it was shown clearly more than 10 million handsets that are brought illegally is not included in the count. Another thing even with official figure during 2017-2018 the figure was above 8 million. That means as many people bought new sets recently they don’t need to buy again.

No one cares about your ''analysis''. Here is a report from a reputed market intelligence firm, IDC.

According to the International Data Corporation ’s (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, 4Q19, Bangladesh mobile phone market returned to growth in 2019 with a 4.1% annual growth, shipping 29.6 million units during the year. Feature phones continued to dominate with 76.6% share and 22.7 million units shipment with a 4.9% annual growth. In the smartphone category, a total of 6.9 million smartphones were shipped in 2019 with a 1.4% year-over-year (YoY) growth

The China-based vendors continued to launch higher-priced smartphone models with better specifications. This helped the average selling price (ASP) of smartphones to reach $99 with a 5.7% YoY growth in 2019. The share of 4G-enabled smartphones reached 69% with 50.4% annual growth in 2019. However, 3G smartphones still hold 31% category share, primarily because these smartphones were selling at less than half of the price of a 4G smartphone. Also, due to limited coverage and poor quality of the 4G network, users are still reluctant to upgrade.

Or maybe try to convince your own Media.

Average price is 8469 Taka. lol.

And 10 million handsets smuggled in? Given that just 23% of devices sold in your country is smartphones, what's that like? 2.3 million?

Indians were trying to block Walton exports to their country. But we threatened to take them to the WTO and impose tit-for-tat duties - and they conceded. We had to do this for other appliances before.

Who cares what those losers try to do!

BD and Walton does not need the cheapskate India market when it has the West.

Walton is an extremely well run company with a strategic vision to become a global brand by 2030 and so far everything is falling into place to make that happen.

No one asked for caring specially from a troll like you. If you have the ability to discuss with logic do it instead of spamming same thing again and again.

You have reposted same article again which was refuted. From where the reputed market intelligence firm got the data? It’s from Bangladesh government which is based on the import duty that is paid or tax paid based on declared sold amount.

Now hardly there are any smartphone available in the market below the price range of 7000-9000 taka.

These are list of phones available in the market of price range 1-5000 taka:

These are the phones of the price range 5000-10000 taka:

Within the price range only few Walton sets and 2 Samsung models smartphone is there.

Most of the mobile sets are from cheap quality Sumphoni mobile of India which hardly has a big market share.

The following is outlining the market share brand wise in Bangladesh and none of the sets are within the 10000 taka price range.

This only imply mobile sellers are evading taxes with low declarion of prices.

Regarding smuggled sets most are smartphones. As it doesn’t make much economic sense to smuggle feature phones.

Most people in Bangladesh uses smartphones.

Just recent report indicated that smartphone internet user is 113.6 million way higher than reported figures. That’s almost 70% plus of total cell phone users.

As government has prepared a IMEI database it should be reflected properly next year.

Refuted how exactly? By you screaming ''there are no smartphones below 9000Tk''?

Every Bangladeshi's favourite Walton has got several models under 8500tk.

Symphony or whatever crap is Bangladeshi, not Indian. And they have several models under even 7500 tk. here & here

And this is the market share:

lmao, what? Do they lie in their balance sheets too? I mean likes of Samsung would be desperate to save a few pennies in the ''huge'' $600 million market, lol.

Most people in Bangladesh uses smartphones.

Tell that to the GSMA. Oh wait, no one cares about your shenanigans. If it were you wouldn't have that pathetic 7 million market in the first place.

Looks like swamp-lander is too afraid to even quote me.

The data is easily available, Billy boy. No ''dude, trust me'' kind of shenanigan is going to help your kind. Remember when you made this claim and got countered with the average selling prices of both markets?

Unlike kanjoosis in India, people in Bangladesh on average spend more on cellphones.

From that to defending the low Smartphone ASP in Bangladesh, by claiming that Bangladeshi companies lie on their balance sheets. lol, what a fall.

Pretty much shameless Indians behave in such typical manner. Sharing 2018 data as 2021 data.

This is the latest August 2021 data.

Walton is still not the major player in Bangladesh. But it’s a good thing if it can produce cheaper smartphone with good quality in Bangladesh. That’s not bad thing.

This is the contrasting news coming from Bangladesh and India. Since 2018 smartphone sales has only come down particularly after corona.

Bangladesh: Handset sales down 40pc since January

"The mobile phone market generally remains down in January. But we thought sales would increase from February but did not," Mohammad Mesbah Uddin, chief marketing officer of Fair Electronics, Samsung's local assembly partner, told The Daily Star.

"For the second wave in March and the lockdown in April, our sales dropped 50 per cent to 60 per cent," he said.

India:

Indian smartphone market grows 86% YoY, online sales up 113%: IDC

Due to the varied nature of state-wide lockdowns and the reduced impact on manufacturing, India’s second wave of COVID-19 did not dent the smartphone industry as much as the first, as per the International Data Corporation’s Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker. Smartphone sales in Q2 FY21 (April-June) were up 86 per cent year-over-year (YoY) at 34 million units.

Interestingly, despite there being no 5G spectrum rollout in India, the country was the world’s fourth-largest market for 5G devices after China, USA and Japan.

India's smartphone market to touch record 173 mn units in 2021

India's smartphone market is set to hit a record high of 173 million units in 2021, growing at 14 per cent year-on-year, according to Counterpoint Research. ( It will take Bangladesh 20 years to sell what India sells in a year with current sales figures, that too are going down)

"Even as the second COVID-19 wave hit the country in Q2 2021, the smartphone market bounced back faster than expected and registered its highest ever shipments in H1 2021," it said.

In 2021, the market for 5G devices will grow over eight times to reach 32 million units and makeup 19 per cent of the overall smartphone market.

This is the latest August 2021 data.

And the source for this data is?

You know, it would be great if you lot can stick to one narrative. This is the kind of claims your compatriots make.

Well a lot of people in USA use Walton designed and manufactured phones without even knowing it as they are an OEM supplier to the US market.

And then...

Walton is still not the major player in Bangladesh

So Walton cannot even secure a decent share of Bangladesh's puny 7 million smartphone market, but manages to export ''a lot of phones'' to a developed market like the US?

Even better...

Xiaomi cannot compete in low end mass market smartphones in Bangladesh (lion's share of the market), that will remain with Walton. This is because of local manufacturing, including building from SMD component and circuit board customization level, as opposed to simply screwing together and connecting/assembling component modules and prefabricated circuit boards imported from China.

Imagine being counted among ''other'' (in the data source provided by you) despite making such investments- with a 6% market share. That's like 420K smartphones, worth some $42 million manufactured by all your ''indigenous manufacturers'' combined.

What an achievement for a firm that is an OEM supplier to the US. :sarcastic:

Keep inventing more creative lies, because the reality is too depressing for you. Just like how Bangladeshi companies went from being ''honest businessmen unlike the Indians'' to ones who lie on their audited balance sheets to evade taxes on smartphone sales.

First of all Bangladesh has more smartphone penetration than India based on latest 2020 report.

Smartphone cell reduced for numbed of reason during January-April during lockdown as everything was closed and the news report itself indicated Bangladeshi people prefer to purchase at the store.

Second so many non resident Bangladeshis returned home and most of them brought cell phone with them for their friends and family which is a trend every time they comes. So many didn’t have to buy cell phone.

The report also included overall the mobile phone industry has grown by 15% due to rapid sales during the last six months of the last years.

Many Indians are poor and just started buying smartphone that’s why sales might be high specially during pandemic. For Bangladeshis those who already has a smartphone don’t need to buy again.

How stupid do you think we are? In 2019 Bangladesh had 31 million smart phones per your link. In 2020, it suddenly jumped to 53 million (an increase of 70% or 22 million) in pandemic year (when the sales actually were only 6.9 million in 2020). Only dumb people will believe such numbers.

And India for the past 3 years had sales of over 150 million, that's 450 million smartphone right there. Per your own link, in 2018 India already had close 374 million smartphones. Then what should be India smartphone count, genius?

Please take your stupid a$$ stories somewhere else. Indians are poor for they are buying 150 million smartphones (175 million this year) for 3 years straight at average cost of INR 14000.

While rich Bangladeshis are buying puny 7 million smartphones at 8469 taka on average. You are just stupid to understand the math.

How many motorcycles do you buy in your country? Cars? Trucks? Tractors? Buses? Ambulances? Metro trains? High rises? steel? cement? electricity? Electric Vehicles?

Don't compare you'll be embarrassed.

The talk section of the article he linked is full of people questioning the accuracy of the data.

These numbers come from our annual Global Mobile Market Report and are based on a model which takes into account a country’s economic progression, population, online population, demographic makeup, and accessibility to wireless networks.

Nice model you have there, lol.
