How stupid do you think we are? In 2019 Bangladesh had 31 million smart phones per your link. In 2020, it suddenly jumped to 53 million (an increase of 70% or 22 million) in pandemic year (when the sales actually were only 6.9 million in 2020). Only dumb people will believe such numbers.
And India for the past 3 years had sales of over 150 million, that's 450 million smartphone right there. Per your own link, in 2018 India already had close 374 million smartphones. Then what should be India smartphone count, genius?
Please take your stupid a$$ stories somewhere else. Indians are poor for they are buying 150 million smartphones (175 million this year) for 3 years straight at average cost of INR 14000.
While rich Bangladeshis are buying puny 7 million smartphones at 8469 taka on average. You are just stupid to understand the math.
How many motorcycles do you buy in your country? Cars? Trucks? Tractors? Buses? Ambulances? Metro trains? High rises? steel? cement? electricity? Electric Vehicles?
Don't compare you'll be embarrassed.
Although I hate to get into schwanz comparison - the fact remains that India is magnanimous on only one count, the size of poor population. As befits the situation, at one time, two and three wheelers were counted as 'vehicles' in the Indian motoring press. Go figure.
India compares poorly with China's figures and even with Pakistan on vehicle ownership, especially car ownership, which is understandable (I believe I saw the figure of 55 per Thousand in Pakistan compared to something like 42 per Thousand in India). Most Indians are too poor or too kanjoos to own anything other than motorbikes. I have visited India countless times (Delhi and Mumbai in particular) and I have been to China (Shenzhen and Shanghai) as well.
I don't know what parallel universe these delusional Sanghis inhabit but it is amusing to see their hare-brained boasts here about Indian superiority in car ownership and comparing things with Bangladesh (which is just starting to develop), to make them feel good.
India mainly runs on two wheelers and especially cheap 100/150/180cc ones as well as scooters, even for middle class folks. Until ten years ago, Bangladesh GDP was half that of India's, so it is understandable if personal car and motorcycle ownership is lagging in Bangladesh, and car ownership in Bangladesh and Vietnam are the same (2%) though motorcycle ownership is much higher in Vietnam due to cultural differences (women being high percentage of owners). Bangladesh has 300-800% tax on new personal car purchases. That ownership in India would be at the same level in India if their tariff was as high as ours.
We are perfectly happy with car ownership figures the way they are. Things will change for the better as economy and infra improves. More cars will be made locally as well.
