DERA GHAZI KHAN - A boy who took part in a bloody suicide mission on Sakhi Sarwar shrine has sought forgiveness from his victims in an interview from his hospital bed.
The boy was arrested shortly after Sundays attack, which killed at least 44 people at the shrine. He was initially unrepentant. However, he said he is seeking forgiveness from the families of those killed and wounded. The boys arm was amputated as a result of injuries he sustained after he was shot by a guard.
The boy said his name is Omar. Police initially identified him as Fida Hussain and gave his age as 14. The boy says he spent two months training with militants in Mir Ali tribal area in North Waziristan along with 400 others. He further revealed that Commander Sangin Khan is supervising the training camps in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
He also disclosed that the second bombing was supposed to take place between the rescue and media teams.
Omar was shifted to Central Jail on Friday. He told the media persons that up to 400 people, including Uzbeks, Tajiks, Arabs and Punjabis, are getting training at Mir Ali camp while six trained men have also been dispatched to different cities of Punjab with the suicide material. About his family, he said his father died in a blast at Karachi couple of months ago while he is living with his mother and two sisters in a Waziristan village.
Omar said they travelled in a wagon from Dera Ghazi Khan to Sakhi Sarwar shrine and loaded the jackets when reached near the shrine.
Sources in police said that Omar was a 7th class student at Noor Public School Waziristan with his roll number 23. He was issued school card on January 2 with expiry of January 3, 2012 and fathers name is mentioned as Akbar Khan.
During his talk with the media, Omar further said that nearly 400 young boys are getting training at a camp in Mir Ali with Sangeen Khan as the head of the camp and Qari Zaffar as the instructor.
He told the media that he is fully ashamed of his action as he was totally misguided in the sense they were informed that they are being sent to Afghanistan while he was much surprised when he reached Dera Ghazi Khan and even discussed the issue with Zara Ali who was the mastermind of the suicide mission.
