问题的根本原因恐怕在于，破甲弹的精度比穿甲弹差，散布范围本来就大。校炮，火控，修正风偏，各方面都达到最优了，然而散布范围没办法改变。同样的条件，穿甲弹也许散布在5平米的范围内，破甲弹范围没准高出一倍。那中不中真的就靠运气。
不过从现场视频看，老司机车组三发全中，看来除了散布范围，车组经验也是至关重要的。经验的意义就在于依靠大量经验短时间内做出判断，根据过往案例结合火控预判弹着点。当欠缺相关经验时，只能通过逻辑推理应对新出现的现场状况，更多地依靠火控系统和炮本身的精度。
举个不恰当的例子，使用狙击步枪，用通用弹和专用狙击弹，散布精度本身就会对射击结果有影响。而对新枪手和老枪手来说，尽管都知道三点一线瞄准射击，但同样枪弹射击结果也不同，这就是经验导致的。
讲道理，现代坦克对抗，用破甲弹真心不多，几乎都用精度好穿深大的穿甲弹。俄国用破甲弹，跟他要推销的T72旧车和对应大量库存的旧弹有关。而穿甲弹，2014年的96A就已经证明自己水平了。说起来，北约银杯赛也都用穿甲弹，没有用破甲弹的。。。。
well,i think the problem is because of the ammunition.HEAT has a low scattering precision than APFSDS itself,and the crew members' experience matters a lot.

According to unconfirmed source , the Chinese tank crew belong to a regiment (or is it division?) that was operating type 59 until 6 months ago, and was re-equiped with type 96 (NOT 96B).

The event participating crews were trained on latest Type 96B just 3 months ago. If this is true, then they are doing quite good consider the short time with new tank's fire control.

India is actually doing pretty good on Tank Biathlon! Too bad, India only participates in 2 out of 23 competitions, and it did not perform well in Sniper Frontier.

Agree thought IA atleast participate in the IFV competition. There are also other disciples they could have taken part - like sappers, engineering, scouts.

Also there is an increase on No. of disciples from 14 (2015) to 23

So lets see maybe next year

Some type59 crew I think. They maybe some of the best tank crew in PLA tank regiment. Remember the best tank drift drivers few years ago. I am quite sure he is a from type 59 regiment.

Transmissions have zero to do with handling. The T-72 appears to be turning on pavement which obviously has less traction.

T-72 almost stopped and 96 just passed smoothly.
T-72 is still on the stage of break-and-turn.
That's the generation gap, dude.

The T-72 was was on pavement, there was little traction. Most of its energy was lost when it lost traction. The T-72 does not slide like that on gravel.

Which T-72 that you means? The light green T-72 doing well. It was the Zimbabwe team that couldn't control the tank and left behind by the other two teams.
