:haha:

NEW DELHI: After having faced flak from several quarters for its shambolic state in the run-up to the Commonwealth Games, the Athletes Village on Wednesday drew praise from the head of the Games Federation Michael Fennel, who described it as the best-ever he has seen.

"The atmosphere in Games Village is extremely positive. Representatives are relishing the facilities there, especially the training and practice facilities...the best facilities I have seen anywhere at any Games I have been to so far," Fennel said at his morning media conference.

In the build-up to the mega event, the Village had come under attack from foreign delegations for the "untidy and unliveable" conditions there.

There were complaints about water logging in the basements of apartment blocks and unhygienic living conditions.

The Chairman of Commonwealth Games Federation Mr Micheal Fennel said track is now in perfect shape for athletic events. Addressing a joint press conference Mr. Fennel and Chairman organizing Committee Suresh Kalmadi said on Wednesday morning that repair works have been completed and a technical experts team has approved it after a thorough inspection.

Refuting charges about bad condition of track they said repairing work was immediately taken up just after conclusion of opening ceremony.

Mr Fennel said federation has received reports from athletes about availability of facilities at Commonwealth Game Village and they are appreciating to the facilities provided to them at village including training, exercise and practice facilities.

He admitted that transport problem is still prevailing but not a single event was held up due to non transportation of athletes and officials.

He appreciated that separate lane provision for games participants and extended his gratitude towards Delhites for their cooperation.

Mr. Kalamadi informed 7 new records were set up on 2nd day of the games. He said 3 games records were set up in cycling and 2 each in swimming and shooting events.

Replying to questions about poor presence of spectators at some of stadia, Mr. Kalmadi said sale of tickets is getting momentum and more than 50 thousand tickets have been sold last day.

He said interest level of people has gone up after grand performances of host country athletes.

Taka bolta hai...

Guess they are not finding Cobras now in the village

Now the wave is on our side , every one forgot every complaints.

the laugh on our side now ......compliments will keep coming in......the villages in someplace like Canada, Aus etc can have issues but they get conveniently ignored .....but when it comes to India .....the only thing making headlines in the West is ...."unhygenic conditions , Cobras ...." wonder when the GOI will forcefully counteract this western propaganda against organizing sporting events in India ...?

How can this village be the best ever in history when half of them arent even completed, some don't have running water and most don't have stable electricity? Not to mention most of them were ****** on the athletes arrival.

Thats what your biased media led you on to believe ......a tap problem or a slight furniture realignment in one or two rooms in the living quarters was blown yards out of proportion by the Canadian , U.K and Aus media ....all determined to show India in a bad light.....but when it really comes down to fact.....Australian athletes themselves praised the village no end.....apparently white egos demand Arab sheikh style living accomodations....forcing the expenditure up to billions more than originally envisioned.....would be interesting to see how big of a hole the Aus govt is willing to burn in their big pockets to organize the next edition of the Games as it comes.....:devil::devil:

On another note, if you see recent pictures of Kalmadi, you can just tell that he has no will to live anymore...

As for the article, I can definitely say that 2010 CWGs were definitely... unique...

Truly Delhi Games Village is best ever in history of CWG there is no doubt about it.

In starting there was some problem due to the natural calamity the worst ever rain in Delhi's history for last 60 years.
