It works Both ways. for example If there is a Quota in Karachi University for Interior Sindh then their Quota for urban Sindh in Mehran University as well. So there is an Institute in those areas Quota would definitely be there.

Let's not get emotional and start disgracing our different ethnic classes. All are citizens of Pakistan and all have contributed enormously to the building of Pakistan. The Muhajirs were the ones who contributed a lot in Karachi after partition. Liaqat Ali Khan was a Muhajir, is he despised or insulted? Lets not talk of individuals. Sindhis were deprived of opportunities as the Muhajirs being more educated handled most of the bureaucracy so they did try to sideline them. Even today, the well educated Muhajirs hold key appointments. I never refer to them as Muhajirs. They are citizens of this country irrespective of the ethnic group to which they belong. This ethnic card was used by some self-centered rulers to make a party which would resort to violence for their sponsors. Sponsors are long dead but the militancy remains in the party. Secondly, our enemies have seen this as a fault line in our unity and exploited it to their advantage. Hope we all consider ourselves Pakistanis and criminals as criminals whether belonging to any ethnic group.

Muhajirs are still way above in terms of Education compare to rest of Pakistan. It wont help because Quota System is introduced to keep us out of Bureaucracy and Army still has Ayub Khan Syndrome who use to think Muhajirs are not Patriotic Enough. So Private sector is only Option available for them within Pakistan and they are doing way better in that.

Karachi Literacy Rate is down because of Inter State Migration from FATA and other Poor regions in Pakistan otherwise Karachi is SECOND after Islamabad in terms of Literacy Rate in Pakistan according to 1998 Census.

The educational Standard of Private Universities in Karachi are also one of the best especially in Business Schools and Medical Colleges in HEC.

Why hasn't Army released an official statement regarding Zardari's outburst? Why the drive against financial corruption and ones who were involved in Lyari Gang seems to be stopped as there is no arrest. Don't tell me that they won't find any weapons or culprits if there is a raid on Bilawal House. All the main culprits from Zardari to Manzoor Kaka are enjoying summer holidays in abroad. As I said earlier, dirty smell of deal like N.R.O is all over just to curb MQM. Even though I hate that crocodile sitting in London, reservations of MQM are pretty much justified now . You may have your way of thinking but this has been my Observation as I am born and Broughtup in Karachi and also understand the MARKET and how it works. MQM has many Faces from Liberal to Muhajir and support them for Various different reasons for example My Friends in Professional circles support MQM because of their ORGANIZE Nature while some of those who live in their Stronghold Support them for Muhajir Politics and some for exclusively Altaf Hussain as well as some Business oriented people in Karachi support them for their Karachi Centric Views which they find more clearer then other Parties.

They have actually Done a lot of Development in Karachi during Musharraf's period but bottom line is that they had Administrative Power back then in the form of Local Bodies system while for last 8 years it was PPP which controls all the administrative Powers of Karachi and we saw decline. Lahore and Karachi cant be compare because Lahore is a city where most of the Power in Punjab is concentrated while in case of Karachi most of the Power is concentrated in Interior Sindh so in the sense Karachi is Powerless City while Lahore is Powerful City Administratively Speaking.

I beg to Differ you on most Well off Community being Muhajir because most of Pakistani Bureaucracy are Punjabi, Military mostly Punjabi and Current ruling Govt is Predominantly Punjabi as well. While on the other hand Muhajirs doesnt even have Administrative controls of their own City right now, No Development Funds Allocated in Budget for the City where they are in Majority, Very Very few people in Bureaucracy and Military.
