$15 billion Saudi bailout likely

Yara shale gas is 30 years away from commercialization. Hamara berra gharq buhut pehlay ho jaye ga.

There will be a glut of oversupply in the world gas market as shale gas comes to fruition, that will crash prices. We should not hurry to lock ourselves into a high priced contract now unless there is a provision to keep on periodically revising the price.

As the contract stands now, our supplied price is tied in to the world price of oil ,which will likely rise. That must be changed.

Aloha mate. What's up with the "Indian" attitude? I know we have a problem, however, we don't need you to rub it in. You can label our situation as "handouts," while, when you get the same from the Saudis at super-duper-subsidized rates, you label it with ten different fancy trade terms. Let's be fair here with our assessments, it nowhere says that it's an "aid" or a "grant". We will have to pay dearly for it. It has happened before, and it will happen again.

So the new government is even better at begging handouts? Things are looking up!

Leader seems to be angry as they didn't or wouldn't have offered similar package for PTI

Don't worry, if we are able to get 15 billion dollars (if true but i think it is very unlikely news/rumour). This 15 billion dollars can solve so many problems of Pakistan. Think out of the box by not having any allegiance with the political party. You are in danger, you have extremely low growth rate in economy, you have a big chunk of industry shut, you have unemployment etc. One electricity can drive the so many wheels on... and you might have the industrial circle running again, decrease in unemployment meaning father will be able to bear the cost of his child's education fee, you have higher export, cheaper electricity as compared to generators etc...

So on...

By the time it is 2018, you might have few problems resolved if not many. It's a loan so we will have to return it back to them... But 3 years of deferred payment is something unbelievable right now. If you have madrissah's promoting violance it's your fault... Shut them up.. if Saudi's make a issue out of it.. lets face it... but so far we haven't done anything against it a part from babbling about it.

Electricity can solve so many problems of Pakistan, from higher growth rate to education and health and larger tax collection to basic problems of our country.

dear economist of your own league, you are quoting me, make sure you mention me, so that I can cure your problem at the earliest :sarcastic:

now please say 2 nafal for your Holy Master Al-Saud and sleep tight !!

Now Kiss the Pipeline Goodbye. Be dependent on others and keep getting bailouts while selling your intrests .

Nothing in this world is for free and nobody is ur friend .The day our people and our GOVT will understand this we can stand on our own feet else be it a pipeline or drone attacks or Gawader or Kalabagh or other thing , we have to sacrifice our interests for these bailout packages we get .

Be it Americans or Saudis ,we need to stay away from them .

Lol, hadn't thought of that! Clever of the Saudis to lock in a high price to insure the money flows when prices crash.

Zaki, we have only one problem. Tax collection, and guess which province harbors majority of these tax evaders?

This Saudi package will have a gazillion catches, and in all probability we will have to pay dearly for it. A very high percentage of this "LOAN" will end up in some get-rich crazy-arsed-cathcy-yellow-cab-like-scheme and then when the party is all over, only thing standing will be "ROSHAN LAHORE", rest of the country wouldn't have changed at all.

Try not to jump to conclusions so fast.

30 years? Where do you get your info? We already use fracking....and it is quickly expanding.

There are no free rides.

But it is the Iranians who have tied the price of their natural gas to the world price of oil, for the IP pipeline.

beti di hoi hai nawaz nay... that makes him King's brother, and ofcourse yeh Pakistan ko apni maa ki jagir samaj rahe hain...

Then he is right man in right time for Pakistan. 15 billion is not pea nuts

"Indian" attitude? You all foam at the mouth against the US and you think we love you for it? Besides I misread....it isn't a hand out....it's deferred payment. The Saudis are getting a guaranteed rate on their oil.

The price for fracking has just become feasible, not because it's cheap, but because it has "relatively" become cheaper due to high price of crude. Energy, resource extraction, demand, supply and pricing is always a relative game. Many other reasons, however, I am not here to give a free seminar on it.

BTW, what is the circular debt of Pakistan in dollars? (only power sector)

We hear 500 arab rupees, how much dollars is that?
