$15 billion Saudi bailout likely

Leader seems to be angry as they didn't or wouldn't have offered similar package for PTI

Don't worry, if we are able to get 15 billion dollars (if true but i think it is very unlikely news/rumour). This 15 billion dollars can solve so many problems of Pakistan. Think out of the box by not having any allegiance with the political party. You are in danger, you have extremely low growth rate in economy, you have a big chunk of industry shut, you have unemployment etc. One electricity can drive the so many wheels on... and you might have the industrial circle running again, decrease in unemployment meaning father will be able to bear the cost of his child's education fee, you have higher export, cheaper electricity as compared to generators etc...

So on...

By the time it is 2018, you might have few problems resolved if not many. It's a loan so we will have to return it back to them... But 3 years of deferred payment is something unbelievable right now. If you have madrissah's promoting violance it's your fault... Shut them up.. if Saudi's make a issue out of it.. lets face it... but so far we haven't done anything against it a part from babbling about it.

Electricity can solve so many problems of Pakistan, from higher growth rate to education and health and larger tax collection to basic problems of our country.

It isn't about PTI Zakii, atleast for me.

What this means is that we are still going for the same old bail outs, some money begged but termed as gifted, some termed as loan etc.

Unless we don't start looking inside and at ourselves for help, nothing is gonna happen. We could be taking bailouts from the world for the next 50 years but nothing is going to happen unless we bring in our own tax reforms, our own resources into use etc.

Ab aisi soch nhn honi chahiay keh 'woohoo, we got the money, now let's sleep for another 6 months'!

here we go again....the easy way out from our politicians....the proverbial begging bowl syndrome....NS and his govt. will not take the hard decisions by forcing the public sector companies to pay their electricity and gas bills, will not tax the traders community, will not tax the agriculturists/land owners who are squeezing this country dry, will not end the SRO culture of tax exemptions for NS's business 'cronies'. yes he will tax the salaried class.....pathetic state of affairs.....we know already that nothing is going to change even before NS has taken the oath as PM.

I agree and, to add, there cannot be a better example to present contrast between PMLn and PTI policies.

IK's six promises on 23rd MArch 2013 and the oath of all the PTIians on the last election day in front of parliment. Every word and every promise was about self reliance and self belief. In the short term it would have hurt but in the long run better for the country. This is exactly what David Cameroon is doing in U.K. at the moment.

Remember! These bail outs will never let the economy grow.

Because Pakistan don't have the money for it and the Iranians had 12-years to finance it but they didn't until the very very last minute... too late.

This new development should be used to leverage lower prices and not drop the pipeline which btw Pakistan has committed too. Pakistan needs as much energy as possible so to drop it would the typical jahil emotional reaction.

We need tax reforms for survivability but bailouts to pass few years to avoid becoming defaulter. Any economist would agree that we are heading for another IMF bailout package... Saudi's 15 billion dollars of deferred payment can avoid that... What that means is... use the money for 3 years and pay back in 2016-2018. With similar IMF package of 15 billion dollars.. You expect to pay back much more money than that...

1. Saudi don't ask you to kill your own people and 2. betray Muslims in Afghanistan 3. you are slaves of USA you sell Muslims to USA you kill them on their orders you betray Muslims of Afghanistan and Many USA aid is in loan form and 4. most things from Saudi Arabia you almost get them for free

1. Yes they do. Maybe not your salafist kind, but most definitely tell you to kill Shias.
2. Just because of their interference over the decades in Afghanistan and your gullibility for a free lunch, my Pashtun bretheren have suffered the most. You will get the money and we will have to pay the ultimate price with our lives for strategic containment of Iran and or China. Always remember USA<->Saudia, are one of the same thing. Two sides of the same coin.
3. USA in any scenario is the planner, and Saudia the banker.
4. There is no such thing as free lunch. Once again, you are so mentally challenged that you don't understand the hefty price we have paid every time you made "friendship" / wanted a free lunch from the Salafist demon.

There will be a glut of oversupply in the world gas market as shale gas comes to fruition, that will crash prices. We should not hurry to lock ourselves into a high priced contract now unless there is a provision to keep on periodically revising the price.

As the contract stands now, our supplied price is tied in to the world price of oil ,which will likely rise. That must be changed.

All in all, it is a necessary evil.

Good for short term solution. but if this period is not taken advantage of and new plants are not developed, 2018-2023 will be worse. Wonder what Saudis want in return of this..

New Petro based powerplants will be required ..?

Tell Z 40% of Pakistan to PAY ZEIR ELECTRIC BILLS... all the PUJABISTAN INDUZTRIALISTS and we shall all be ok. thank you.

... and you're going to spend all your life savings to provide 24 hour electricity to your village without any load shedding?

Arrey, take help, build strong economy and then reduce external influence. You are not in position to refuse their help, because even your iron friend chinese wont help in in this.
Wish we had a petrol friend..

I truly pity the Pakistani people- successive dictators and governments have led them into a position where they are now facing a choice between the devil and the deep blue sea. They must depend on foreign powers for everything from military power to trade to tech to finances and one doesn't have to look too far to see that every power is asking for something whether it is drone strikes being permitted, letting supplies run through your country, setting up Madrassas etc etc. Nothing is free in this life and Pakistan is paying dearly for the failures of its so-called leaders.

The Pakistani people are proud yet their leadership has made them the basket case of the world. The sad thing is Pakistan is now so deep in the sh!t that it is almost impossible to see a way out.

So the new government is even better at begging handouts? Things are looking up!
