ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Water and Power Saturday apprised Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif that another 1000 megawatts of electricity would be added to the system within next 24 hours.
The ministry reported to the Prime Minister that load-shedding has been reduced to eight hours in urban areas and 10 hours in rural areas.
According to the statistics issued by the ministry, Lahore city was facing six-hour long power outages while it is four hours for Islamabad.
Moreover, the power generation in the country has been recorded at 12,700 by 1500 hours on Saturday.
With this, the power shortfall has been reduced to 2600 MW against total demand of 15,300 MW.
According to the ministry, 3890 MW are being received from hydel resources, 1780 MW from thermal and 7030 MW from IPPs.
