N-LCA out of the hangar

^^^ yep it is trainerNP1, NP2 that is naval version will be end of dec 2010

landing gear diff between lca and naval lca
nlca-lca-uc.jpg

I personally like NLCA better than the air force LCA --looks much better. Has gotta sparrow kinda look.

I dont think that Landing gear can go up --- by the way it looks. Looks this prototype of NLCA will fly with landing gear down all the time -- Untill the DRDO folks are confident of the load that landing gear can take.

soon we will be seeing them on the flight decks of ins vikramaditiya and ins vikrant !!!

As far as i have heard -- NLCA will not be operating on Vikramaditya ,IAC1 and Vikrant.

NLCA will be operating from IAC2 ...IAC2 will have CATOBAR operations and NLCA will utilize that to take off. Not sure if it can take off on ski jumps. I could be wrong though.

If anyone noticed the canard in the N-LCA?

It will help LCA to achieve more AOA..:victory:

iam actualy very uncertain about NLCAs future, Migs are for Vikramaditya, IAC1 mostly will use Vikramaditya again, plus some NLCA (may be 10-15 max), IAC2 will use NMRCA....

Its not a canard --- its a levcon or lerx.

I agree...They are LEVCONS.

Those aren't canards- they're LEVCONS (Leading Edge Vortex Controllers). The purpose is to allow for more controllability at high AoA and low speeds, which is especially crucial for the N-LCA especially since it needs to have even lower landing speed than the IAF version.

That means it surely helps to achieve high AOA.

Yes Dash -- Same thing is eating me also. Where will we utilize NLCA ? Also i heard this long time back that NLCA cannot use the ski jump to take off due to low thrust-- this means that Vikramaditya and IAC1 is rulled out or atleast till they can build enough thrust. I hope this is not correct. This leaves IAC2 which is believed to CATOBAR operations - this can be used to NLCA----

I dont have any clue where we will NMRCA -- i dont know what NAVY is planning or it will use this.

I see that you are new --so just letting you know before hand -- BR is not exactly revered out here ;) ..so if you want to mention it - mention it in a covert manner ....

Regarding Levcons - Yes it is used to reduce the speed of aircraft and for better handling at high AoA. At high angles of attack it creates a vortex at the top of the wing -- this helps in a smooth airflow which otherwise would not be possible causing the engines to stall or shut off in flight !!
An F18 hornet - is the best possible example to see a vortex created by LERX ...you can search for pics to see that.

Not another one?! First it was the MiG-29Ks; then the tender for future naval aircraft, and now this? How many aircrafts are you intending to operate in naval combat roles?

Trust me Parashuram ...even i am thinking the same --- There is no visibility at the moment....

Maybe future naval aircraft is fall back plan in case NLCA doesnt satisfy all the needs -- but i dont think this is the case.....

At this rate, you might end up becoming the only country in the world to possess two simultaneous air forces.

I finally think i know what might be going on --- note i am speaking for myself -- no sources

Navy has sent RFI Naval MRCA to replace the maritime jaguar squadron it has.

For Aircraft carriers -- Mig 29K along with NLCA will do the job.

This is the only explanation that i can think of --everything else is drawing blanks.

Hmmm --Added later --

Even Jag squadron doesnt make any sense --because being a multi role aircraft Su 30 or MRCA can do this job -----

But this is the only explanation.
