A good choice the Grand Seiko.
The Omega Sea Master is also a piece to be considered.
sir, no basal rim markings would be preferable---

do you know some reputable seiko shops in pak?

the ones in l rarely carry seiko.. and if they do they are either heavy chronographs or seiko sarb replicas

I know one on Zaib un Nisa street. London watch company.
Another is Lifestyle, next to Agha's.
Both in Karachi.

Concentrate on building your assets, not collecting watches. This should be the least of your worries.

dont worry-- the first tag that i got was in my late 20s... before that there were casios/ romanson ... and one roamer that i lost

my advice, get a seiko or get a replica of any watch you like .... the original watch should be over2k u.s ... the replica should be mechanical if the original is mechanical.... use it for a year, throw it and get another replica of different weight and size ''mm''..... so that by the time you actually buy an original , you know your personal preferences

whenever you do buy--- get an allrounder watch.. goes both with casual and formal wear... there are few in this category... my limited edition tag is there... rolex explorer1 is the best in this category... some other less costly watches have been posted by me in this category... some even use a speedy as a casual beater as well for formal use

there are some swiss brands which have watches between 40-50k rs like hamilton/swiss army/victoriknox/tissot and they do get sales

We had a fellow in the unit who would wear a different designer watch every other day, turned out they were all "replicas." Only his personality gave it away!

out of the less costly ones, tissot has history but they rarely apeal to me.. hamilton are better

raymond weil/fredique constant are designer watches... fc has inhouse movements so i will rate it above rw ------- buy them 2nd hand or on a 50% sale and its a bargain

fyi maarkhor, there are/used to be some swiss models in quartz by tag/omega/rolex-------------you can get their quartz replicas
even jlc made a quartz model

if the original is 2-3k u.s and is not quartz in the replica.... most wont know the difference ---- but i hate replica tags..... serously they are so good i cant tell the replica from the original.... only the wearer gives it away

Some of the watches in this thread, like the Patek are beyond the reach of an average person. That being said, anyone interested in investing in a time piece can start with an Omega, I have my grandfather's Omega Sea master 18k rolled gold c 1940's. It has been to the trenches of Burma and made it back and worn on three generations of our family, I will be passing it onto my son when he is old enough.

Besides Omega is the watch of choice for HRH Prince William, if it's good enough for the future King of England and 007, it's good enough for me :). My everyday watch is a Casio Databank ( 1993 ) and a Casio Protrek.

Unless you are a high performance athlete and in a sport that requires precision timing, there should be no electronics on your wrist. That means as a man, you should show your appreciation for fine engineering by wearing a mechanical watch, either manual or auto. Granted, mechanicals costs more than their electro cousins, but that only points out the fact that electronic watches are dime-a-dozens, as Americans would say. Electronic components cost much less to mass produce.

My daily beater is a Hamilton Khaki Navy Black Dial GMT with a NATO strap. My weekend watch, especially whenever I am on my bike, is a Glycine Base 22 Mystery, also on a NATO strap. Both have multiple time zones indicators because I do have interests across the US. Neither is as accurate as any common department store quartz piece, but I get more compliments from men and women on both mechanical watches than on the quartz pieces on their wrists. Autos are not that rare, but it is like 2 or 3 out of ten people would have one.

Women are naturally details oriented/observant and they will notice who stands out -- the one man with a dinged up brushed stainless steel plain face auto among the many with shiny quartz that has multiple dials that the wearers barely know how to use. Kinda like they know how to tell the difference between real jewelry from costume jewelry.
