Lebanon is to receive 24 CAESAR 155 mm self-propelled artillery systems under the equipment package negotiated between Saudi Arabia and France, company officials told IHS Jane's on 23 February.

The systems are to be delivered using the standard French Army configuration and could be delivered in as little as 15 months as the company's CAESAR production lines are currently operational. However, continued delays in the progression of the deal - which is being funded by Saudi Arabia and delivered by France's ODAS - mean that it is likely to be longer before the systems are delivered.

According to the representatives, the number will see the Lebanese Army equipped with two batteries of 12 guns each.

Security sources said that the Lebanese army could soon receive combat aircraft F5 type of the USA in the next 5 months. Discussions are well underway to allow Lebanon to acquire these aircraft in order to enable it to protect its borders and as different are reports of attacks coming from Syrian terrorist group linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant, acronym Daech against the Land of Cedars. The terrorist group thus seeks to proclaim in the coming days the Islamic emirate in Lebanon. These aircraft could be thus brought to fight Daech Lebanon, and even Syria, according to these security sources.
This assistance would aim to complete the US military facilities already sent to Lebanon including last month via Jordan and as the Country of the Cedars refuses direct intervention by US aircraft against Daech its territory because of fears its sovereignty .
Designed in the 50s and marketed from 1962 until 1987, the Northrop F5 company is a lightweight fighter jet still in use in many countries. With a range of 1,400 kilometers to a maximum speed of 1700 km / h, the hunter can also be equipped with 80 Mark type bombs.
The Lebanese Army currently has only 4 Hawker Hunters type of combat acquired in 1958 and reactivated following fighting between it and the terrorist group Fatah al-Islam in Nahr Bared in 2007. During the siege of the Palestinian camps located in North Lebanon, the military had then used Huey helicopter types to mark bombs against fortified positions occupied by the terrorist group.
