Musharraf wants blue eyed judges to hear presidential reference

ISLAMABAD: The counsel of the Chief Justice, Aitzaz Ahsan has said the government`s petition for full bench is based on bad intention adding they would protest against the petition.

Talking to a private TV channel, Aitzaz Ahsan, said the government had taken U-turn by filing a petition for a full court for hearing of the presidential reference. He said the President and his lawyers had no objection when the Acting Chief Justice Rana Bhagwandas had constituted a larger bench but now they seems to be going on back foot from their stance.

?President Musharraf wants his blue eyed judges to hear the presidential reference,? Aitzaz added. He said the government earlier accused us of contempt of court but it was itself committing contempt of court.

?We have no objection over Acting Chief Justice and the bench he has constituted. The government petition for full court is beyond understanding,? he added.

Meanwhile federal minister for law and justice Wasi Zafar said that President Musharraf had not filed a petition for full court. He said Aitzaz Ahsan was politicking the issue.

Talking to a private TV channel, he said, the government had filed the petition for full court. He said earlier the CJ`s lawyers demanded for a full court. The CJ lawyers, he said, now term the petition as based on bad intention. He said the government had not taken any U-turn on the issue.

The law minister said the political parties, lawyers and media had no right to decide the presidential reference on roads. The Supreme Judicial Council would decide the issue, which would be acceptable for the government.

Stupid sensationalism. Trust me when the dust settles this same chief justice would turn out to be supporting some or the other political party. Most "Vukla" (plural of Lawyers) are just rent-a-mob with black coats.

This has a very MOB characteristic to it. In Pakistan the mob is always the tool of a dirty politician.

Asim,

What makes you think Musharraf wont use the same crowd/mob?

When was he released from the house arrest?

Because he never has?

He has always striven to diffuse such situations. Musharraf's support is in the non-rioting ballot boxes. I dread the day he makes a deal with BB. Which party do you think the CJ's lawyer belongs to? PPPP

I was under the impression he was under house arrest. Atleast im sure i read abt it, although it was denied by GOP.

Well i dont know to whom they owe alliegance, but for sure its high time the situation is solved.

This situation is realy out of Musharaf's hands, he can not do anything now.

The CJ is also acting as a politicians and gathering crowds, I have not seen this norm in judiciary before, but I think he is planning to get in to politics and might be a candidate for Preseident against Musharaf after resigning from SC.

Ousted CJ is trying to influence the SJC by these sort of demonstrations.
I have read breifly his petition (on web) at one point, he tried to justfy his charges by accusing other judges of similar actions.
I think there is no justification for crime, what so ever.
'Crime does not pay' this should be clear to every school going in Pakistan.
I see no reason for these violent protests, this is only delaying the judicial proceedings.
The role of Aitizaz Ahsan is to provide Benazir some time and space to negotiate her way back without being convicted for her famous corruptions.
She is so shrewd that she used N. Sharif (as stupid as ever) to strengthen the demonstrations which again strengthen her position in same negotiations.

yup i think musharraf has bit of more than he can chew. the dudes time is up.

We respect all those who participated in the creation of Pakistan, that incl. lawyers, poets etc. and those who later kept the foreign agressors away from our homeland and those who worked hard and honestly for the betterment of Pakistan.
In today's Pakistan, if we declare lawyers more important than doctors or engineers or soldiers, this could be described any thing but DEMOCRACY.
A leader can come from any walk of life, e.g. Imran Khan had great leader ship skills.
