Pakistan tops troop contributors in UN peacekeeping
UNITED NATIONS: With Pakistan topping the list of troop contributors, the U.N. peacekeeping deployment reached a historic high at the end of October, the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) has reported.

Nearly 81,000 military and police personnel and some15,000 civilians serving in peace operations around the world in 18 different missions, and a budget that could reach $7 billion, Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Marie Guihenno said.

The 18 peacekeeping missions are in Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Europe and Asia.

Peacekeeping personnel come from some 112 countries, the top thee troop contributors were: Pakistan (9,790), Bangladesh (9,655) and India (9,276).

Its always us the bloody developing countries whose soldiers get killed or injured.

Why doesn't the "defender of freedom" and the "liberator of oppressed" commit troops?

The missions's noble but... How much you want to bet that Pakistan and India are competing to out-serve the UN peacekeeping force :P

That's like a number so close to 100,000...

Thats way too many man.

A good way to get the soldiers some hands on training though.

It does... I think I read somewhere that it has commited a total of 23 soldiers :D

Its always developed countries that can not match our professionalism :)

Cause they don't need the money given to providers of "peacekeepers" These troops aren't provided out of some moral belief........:disagree:

These troops aren't provided out of some moral belief........

If not out of some moral belief, then please enlighten us what are these troops provided from? How did you come up with such a brilliant conclusion? Did you conduct a survey or a study that you forgot to share with us?

This is not the place for this...

I wish you all could get along together, better. Only the mods get to declare someone a troll. Before that happens, the person would be sniped.

For now, keep discussions to the topic. If you feel you aren't obliged to answer someone, then you simply shouldn't. An explanation about that is purely upto you, but without calling anyone anything, please.

With that said, any or all grievances can be conveyed through proper channels. Preferrably through PMs.
