The funny thing is the Russian shipyard was expecting a normal walk around but stood aside as the Indians(consul and an admiral) desided to "knock" on the welds in each hull to supposedly check their strength, I think the shipyard workers had a good laugh that day.

yup , thats how we do it - also we check the paint and do some dusting everyday.
 
It is to check if the hull is strong enough to sustain the impact of coconut that would be smashed on it during the launch ceremony.:D
