What's new

Why didn’t the Hindus of India ever defeat an invading army!

Is that a satire or are you being serious?

India had immense trade with Arabs and Europeans much before British ever came. During Mughal period, India had 1/3rd of global GDP. Indian spices were so much in demand in Europe that they worried that too much gold is being drained out of Europe to India.

When you are content with wealth within your country, you are not incentivized to look for conquest outside.

But Mughals were foreigners you can't claim them to be indian when convenient. It was only Mughal who elevated India to be global power and empowered it to be biggest economy of the world.

People seem to forget that what now is defined as India was never a uniting force. It was bunch of princely states who had hard time getting along with each other. They even fought amongst each other and had great animosity toward other states. So when foreign invaders came they used their hate for one another as stepping stone. Even now prejudice based on language, color, religion is very visible in India.

I don't hate you folks, only sympathies, must be hard. Do you cry like this?
"Lmao lolz" did someone tell you it's redundant?

First you talk about India being too wealthy to prevent foreign invasion..but than talk being wealthy under the invaders, which don't make sense .
There were 3 kinds of invaders in Indian history.
1) Ghori / Ghazni / Taimur types - They came on raids, looted cities, took gold and women and went back. They caused a lot of temporary distress
2) Delhi Sultanate / Mughal - They came, conquered, but settled, co-opted and reigned here. They did not take away the wealth out of India. Indians were okay with them as long as they took care of the population.
3) European imperialist - British / Portuguese / French - They came, conquered, settled but worked for foreign shores taking away as much wealth as possible. These did the most damage and are the most hated of the invaders.

Regardless, nothing changed that much, infact only after British rule India developed some viable industry, and actually became the centre of textile export to the world and thrived using the trade network and infrastructure brought by the British, under an unified British raj banner.
Age of industrialization began only after India had already been conquered by British. The British did not allow industrialization to happen in India as it did not suit its economic interests.

And regarding your spice trade, since you're like" Chinese food are bland" without tasting any real Chinese food, during Mughal empire to now nothing changed in the context as China was the biggest exporter of spices back then on top of everything else,China is still the biggest exporter of spices 770m + ,followed by Indonesia 350 + ,followed by INDIA,300+ ,SEA as whole increases the lead much more, just like the ancient times, most spices originated in China and the climate,of SEA & China along with the Chinese expertise in cultivation techniques, produces the most exotic and coveted spices,Indian spice export grew a lot but despite the pr of SPICES=INDIA,which you yourself believed,Spices mostly originated in China and China followed by ASEAN are much large exporter of spices.
Any proof that China is the biggest spice exporter?

Babur and to some extent Humayan was a foreigner. Akbar onwards were fully Indian as they were born and bred here.
Anytime, India is united, internal conflicts would dissipate and economic progress would happen. Mughals were successful in uniting most of India and hence credit can be given to them for it.

Indian Sub-continent (coterminous Pakistan to be precise) did hold against Alexander and then the Mongols, both among the most deadly invasions in history, besides defeating many other invading armies of course

Only two times did entire India fall to a single power/invader... Ashoka and the Brits .. And Both these invasions were directed from East to West (i.e. India fell before Pakistan) and not the other way around

That's a fringe view in today's India, if you are in India don't say that aloud in the public or you might get lynched.

High carb food and non functional liver due to pre diabetic conditions.
He said that in the video food/diet has min effect on ordour.
"wealthy" is a wrong world to represent India on world standard. That exist in Indian fairy tales.
India was but a bunch of independent princely states, which would have likely become nations without British interference

He is right Magra. China had been the real target for the west, and still now. India had food surplus but less trade craft. Chinese porcelain, silk, tools, etc were famous in west.
@UDAYCAMPUS
Watch for few minutes

It was actually Chandragupta who conquered North India, Pak, Afghanistan. Later his son and then grandson Ashok captured South India as well.

BTW - Delhi Sultanate and Mughal conquests were west to east --> Pakistan fell before North India.

I didn't say India was just poor had no trade to be done,I said it wasn't "wealthy" like insinuated, for first, there's no India, and Indian state' s population was far off from wealthy ,massive poverty, draught was rampant. but the colonizers, they all come for trade,in the name at least.

Study real history and economics based on actual records .
I can see multiple papers citing India' s economy in 1700s as 25% of world economy. Maybe you can provide the sources where we don't have wealth that you are claiming. Educate us with sources if you think we are wrong.

Thats not fringe. Most Indians respect Akbar and to some extent his son and grandson too. Aurangzeb is hated only because he forcibly converted Hindus and applied jizya tax.

Both India and China were valued trading partners for the west. India was also well sought for spices, cotton, gems etc.
Many European sailors tried for centuries to find a sea route to India so that they can save on middlemen cost on trade. While doing so, they accidently discovered American continent, and hence they call the native people there Indians.
