not in WW2 but in Vietnam war, Mig-17 destroyed US F-4, in 65/71 war between India and Pakistan Pakistani F-86 Sabres destroyed lots of Russian supersonic jets Named Mig-21 and recently 27/2/2019 we destroyed Indian Su-30MKI with F-16+AMRAAM combo, so your thinking is wrong that lesser capability jets can't beats superior capability jets @Austin Powers

True, but it's much more likely more capable jet destroyed less capable jet. Also, if Japan invades southern Kuril islands Trump slap sanction on Japan and no more spare parts for F-35 in Japan air force.
