Heera Mandi / Shahi Mohallah - Lahore

I don't think there is prostitution at Heera Mandi any more.

If a charge is for eg 10000 a session(probably is higher), and you have 5 women available , doing 3 sessions per day. Even if it is 3 times per week that is 150000 per week. One week tackles the rent and expenses of the place; one week is used for paying off law enforcement and the girls.
You still pocket 300000 a month, that is pretty decent earning for whoever “owns” the business
A few years ago, I consulted with an NGO which sheltered and gave counselling to the women rescued from this life. (It was usually the police or DC offuce which sent the girls there).

Nowadays a lot of it’s based of cell phone numbers and social media pages and the girls are (for the want of a better term) Contractor’s. Basically the John sends a request to a pimp by phone and he arranges a woman as requested. No need for proper accommodation.

More importantly, it is no longer a case of girls from these Mohalla or prostitution backgrounds. Nowadays any girl looking to make an extra buck gets involved and earns some cash.

Here in UK street prostituting is illegal and both users and providers get arrested.
However brothels are legally run .
This has nothing to do with morality but taxation.

Oh yeah. Although a lot of the girls fall into it, they start off small then end up much deeper than they ever intended.
I remember being surprised that some of the women were from “good”, “khandani” backgrounds.

Money is money. A lot of cell phone thieves once caught were found to be from good families and generally settled middle and upper class backgrounds.

Government should close this place for good. I never see anyone talking about this problem.
