Here is a brief translation of Chinese videos on JFT that i posted few pages ago. BIG thanks to Mr. KFC for providing translation.....

Part 1...

Brief translation:

sino-pakistanese joint fighter appears in Farnborough air show, where F16, F22 and typhoon and others also appears.

Host: "JF17, how does it compare with F16? Its sales potential? and why no chinese pilot?"

Expert: "Everyone wants to see it in the show. This air show is famous. It can promote sales."

Expert:"F16 is medium weight fighter but JF17 is light figher. They cannot be compared."

Expert: "Two planes were flown by PAF, because they are the first to integrate the planes into airforce rank. The pilots are from PAF."

part 2...
translation:

Expert: according to test between F16 and JF17 from PAF, close-in dog fight JF17 has the edge.

Engineer head: we chose this airshow because is famous. Let more people to see JF17. Media asks why JF17 has no flying demo. It is because it will be flown in later this year in China air show.

Expert: market is light full weather multi role fighter. Competitors are JAS, mirage 2000, LCA. European planes are expensive, LCA is still not yet operational. This leaves JF17 to fill the gap.

Part 3....

Expert: USA and Russian focuses heavy fighter market.

Expert: Cheap is not enough. This plane can carry varity of weapons, anti ship, land-targeting, AA, recon pod. But being light, it cannot carry as much as heavy fighter.

Expert: no of hardpoints is satisfactory. DSI is used in JF17 is similar to F35s.

Expert: pilot said it is easy to pilot.

Part 4....
expert: flight control software design is very good. PAF pilot reports safistory.

Expert: PAF sent JF17 indicates the confidence on the planes.

Expert: Russian media reports JF17. But USA is no 1 seller, Russian is no2.

Engineer head: 5-6 clients from Africa, South Asia and amercia have expressed interest.

Expert: W13 has already been installed in plane. Russian has few ability to restrict sales.

Part 5.....

Expert: This plane gives Chinese a chance to show it can design great plane.

Engineer Head: Chinese areospace should participate more internationally. Let outsiders know more about us.

Expert: Chinese needs to establish international market. Until JF17, Chinese has no brand name. Price and quantity will help Chinese to develop this market. Joint venture with Pakistan is good way to develop... etc.

Complete translation of Part1 and Part2.
Thanks to Chinese member for providing this translation.

1) Question: Why were the two JF-17 fighters sent to Farnsborough piloted by Pakistani pilots instead of Chinese pilots?

Answer:
Male Expert: Pakistan has already ordered a large number of the plane and JF-17 is currently in service with the Pakistani Airforce.

2) Question: Why were the planes sent to the Farnsborough airshow?

Answer:
Male Expert: Farnsborough is one of the most famous and acclaimed international airshows and showcasing the JF-17 is a great way to promote the plane on the international market.

Female Expert: Now is a pivotal time for the F-16 multirole fighter since it will be replaced by the F-35 soon and the [US] airforce will probably sell them at a cheap price. The JF-17 may be a great competitor to the F-16 when that happens. (She also consultes the male expert since this is only her opinion)

Male Expert: F-16 and JF-17 aren't really at the same standard weight wise. The normal operational weight of the F-16 is about 15 tons while that of the JF-17 is only about 12 tons. The JF-17 is a light fighter while the F-16 leans towards the medium range.

Question: How come the JF-17 garnered so much attention at the Farnsborough this year?

Answer:
Male Expert: There are two primary reasons for this. First, during JF-17's production phase many experts, especially foreign experts, were skeptical about the plane's capabilities. When Pakistani airforce first accepted the plane they wanted to see how the plane matched up against their F-16As.

2nd part:

[continuing] So they picked a F-16A figher jet and staged a mock dogfight between the F-16A Fighter and the JF-17. According to the reports that I've read the JF-17 not only won but won many times, in a sense "dominating" the F-16A fighter. The Pakistani Airforce came to the conclusion that the JF-17 had the upperhand in close combat (dogfights). The result of this "dogfight" helped advertise the JF-17 to the world and many people wished to see it as a result. Officials working in the U.S. and Indian embassy were shocked by the news and wanted to see the plane [JF-17] right away but Pakistan said No, you can't see this since this is a MILITARY SECRET. This made the JF-17 even more mysterious than it was and I think a lot of people would want to see it because they are curious about the plane that could defeat the F-16.

The Host: Mr. Song (male expert) said that Farnsborough was a world famous aerospace exhibit. We also wanted to know if there are deeper reasons for the JF-17 to enter this exhibit. As a result we interviewed the Chinese representive for the JF-17, Mr. Chen. Let's hear him.

Mr. Chen: Everyone knows that Farnborough is one of the the top three airshows in the world. It is the perfect platform to demonstrate and advertise a company's product and capabilities. We chose to display JF-17 at this [Farnborough] airshow because of its fame. The CAC planned to demonstrate the JF-17 at both the Paris and Farnborough airshow and we hope that we will be able to demonstrate more of our products. This time we decided to concentrate on the JF-17 so the world media will be better acquainted with it and more air forces will purchase it. (IMPORTANT PART) A lot of journalists asked why we decided not to fly the JF-17 at the Farnsborough. We believe that JF-17, a Chinese plane, should premier at the Chinese Zhuhai airshow. I want to let everyone know that this November, three JF-17s will perform aerial manuevers [at the Zhuhai Airshow].

Narrator: JF-17 traveled all the way to Farnborough so military enthusiasts could not only see the plane first hand but also take a look at the plane's numerous weapons. This time the weapons displayed include:

C802A antiship missile
Thunderstone guided bomb
SD10A MRRAM
WMD7

The JF-17's air-to-ground capabilities are enhanced by the ability to carry a variety of payloads. So just how good are JF-17's capabilities?

Male Expert: It can do anything (meaning multirole capabilities). [It] can do what it needs to do depending on what it carries.

Question: So what is the market that the JF-17 is aiming for?

Male Expert: This is quite obvious. The JF-17 is intended to be a lightweight multirole aircraft. Lightweight multirole aircraft means that the operational weight of the plane won't exceed 13 tons and is usually around 12 tons. This is [the weight] decided by the thrust generated by the jet engine. The thrust generated by most jet engines are around eight to nine tons. It is [the thrust] not that big.

Female Expert: We also see the term "All weather fighter". What does that mean?

Male Expert: The so-called all weather capabilities means that the plane carried radar could detect targets at night. If you didn't carry the radar you can only see targets by sight during the day or by some other means.
