Something smells a bit fishy about this news, brother. I'm HUGELY skeptical TBH. The talk in Egypt is that there was some interest by the Sudanese brass and they were thinking of initiating discussions with the Russians but nothing was officially signed, and that this "news" had originated by some lone, local media outlet. It also comes at a pivotal time with the tensions building up between Egypt and Ethiopia over the Renaissance dam, which makes it even more fishy.
It seems a lot more realistic that Algeria would get their Su-35s before anyone else in the MENA region. We'll have to wait and see, I guess.
What's more disturbing to me is how these specific type of Russian deals tend to end up in the dark, or unclear and never really made in the official manner that almost all other deals are made. That tends to opens the door for so much speculation and false hype etc. And typically, with a big weapon system like this -- since the Su-35 is not some smaller weapon like the TOR/BUK or even the Iskander -- there's always much more information preceding any delivery.
