What's new

What are the additional options for PAF EW and blinder squadron?

In an ideal world, a growler type iteration, , covering low, medium and high frequency jammer, like the f 18 growler, combined with stand off EW weapons, for strike packages. ( j16 D(?))
Secondly, a bigger plan, like the proposed sea sultan, packed with Ew , for the ' castle' role.
But who knows , what's going to happen.

I do think that Pakistan is waiting on the Turkish HAVSOJ and the associated KARA SOJ platforms to mature before making new decisions. Combined with Turkish UAVs, you can see which way things are going.

It is starting to look like Turkey and some countries of the EU will provide the alternative tier to China to ensure weapons diversity.

The new assets are not going to be easily identifiable to protect against targeted attacks during battle maneuvers

In future EW will mke a huge impact as we know artificial intel is getting better abd there are drones cruise missiles killing them with air defence will be very expesive

Russia in syria jammed cruise missile attack of israel and also jammed communication system of baykter drones on turkey in syria

So what are the option for us our falcon system is very old recently it got upgraded by france but still we cant rely on one system

Are we talking Corporate Jet-type OR Fighter Jet-type EW?
Former, PAF has in fact played around with the idea of the latter as well, obviously when they want to get something they start by looking at every option. I assume If J-11 and 16s EW variants were exportable PAF would give them a good look, and according to some they even thought of a dedicated EW variant of J-10 at one point. However Realistically PAF does not need fighter based EW solutions, as those are mostly needed to provide such cover to carrier groups (hence their use on EA-18G and Chinese flankers). We can use bigger aircraft for the same role to get better performance, range and do it cheaper, hence it makes more sense for PAF to get a solution based on a Corporate-jet style aircraft.

For the others; keep in mind the Flacon DA-20s are not stock, they have been modernized, I remember a such a project for them in mid-late 2000s, and that may not have been the last one. The Mirage rebuild factory has full capability to rebuild its engines and airframe as well so just like our mirages they can fly for a long time still (they are both from The same manufacturer, Dassault). It’s still a Very capable aircraft.

This is a PLAN J15D
Why you consider J16D instead of J15 D
In EW domain; PAF alone is going to surprise many out there. Feb 27th, 2019 was merely a glimpse of what's being aimed at. In not so distant future, as discussed in details almost an year ago in a particular thread, there will be a flying Castle and then there will be supplementing platforms and then, there will be different platforms able to work their own groups while connected to castle for anytime updates for total overview of battlefield including Air, Sea and land. Just imagine the level. Only internet world having so much of political influence will believe that Boys ain't doing nothing.
Can you plz elaborate flying Castle

This one. Or we can buy this kind of plane and give it to Leonardo or some other company and get it done. In my opinion we should have EW planes exactly in same numbers as AWACS.

We must have more ELINT / SIGNT / EW systems dedicated aircrafts based on corporate jets to supplement the Blinders.

There should at least be 3 squadrons, one for North, one for Central & one for Southern region.

USN and PLAN have the F/A-18 Growler and J-16 because they need carrier capable EW aircraft. In Pakistan's case larger loiter time and space for ease of upgradation is more important so a converted commercial jet serves better.
Saw a picture of Mirage rebuild factory with Falcon 20 aircraft being overhauled in background, so they would probably still continue to serve long.

PAF is not replacing them any time soon, But they will induct more advanced systems only those platforms who can jam S-400 missile systems.
Both Chinese and Turks are operating S400 system.

With the advancement of EW and miniaturization of electronics, perhaps more off board systems should be studied like “Gremlins” being developed in the US. A deployable system that can be retrieved could save on costs and prevent sensitive technologies being expended in the course of a battle.

The gremlin could send false signals from different angles and fly along with the fighter to draw away fire or lure the enemy into a position our fighters could exploit.

DA-20's will be sent into IAF airspace ?
Yeah I personally think, it surely will give much more flexiblity to PAF if it employs fighter based EW solutions as point jammers providing cover to our raiding parties while our DA20 class jammers can act as the main standoff assets and remain within our borders. Funds and priorities will surely be a decisive factor going forward.
