So what we learn:

1) The Kingdom of Judah, from where the "Jews" came from, actively took part in the destruction of Kingdom of Israel, which was created by ten lost tribes.

2) The northern kingdom of Israel and the Jewish adobe, the Kingdom of Judah were enemies. Irrespective of their common heritage.

3) After the fall of Kingdom of Israel, those ten tribes were taken captive and hence the term "Ten LOST tribes".

4) Considering above facts, the Jews and their progeny, can never claim to be custodian of Israel. Their roots are in Judah, not Israel. This get more complicated since the modern jews have no real Bani Israel bloodline left in them , and most of them are actually Khazar converts.

I have been a student of ancient history of the Middle & the Near East, for quite awhile. To the best of my info, the ancient Jewish Kingdom began with the Joshua (Yushae in Arabic) sometimes around 1200 BC (?) and was at its peak during the time of David & Solomon (circa 1000BC), broke up sometimes around 900 BC into 2 Kingdoms which were called Israel & Judeah.

A couple of centuries later the Northern Kingdom of Israel was completely destroyed by the Assyrians and the population deported. It is said that out of the initial 12 tribes (progeny of the 12 sons of Jacob- Hazrat Yaqub A.S) ten were lost.

The southern kingdom of Judeah continued for another 100 years. Circa 600- 595 BC the Babylonians conquered Judeah and the majority of the population was transported to Babylon. Cyrus the great conquered Babylon in 539 BC and allowed Jews to return to their homeland.

Origin of the modern Judes/Yahudies/Jews is indeed the kingdom of Judeah which was eventually destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD.
