Indian Railways vs. Chinese Railways...

Shit India products ? You are not China dude.Stop being delusional that your nation can afford Chinese high speed trains.
Maybe some of our indian members can shed some light on the quality of locomotives produced by India.
And yes they are less costly

Why would SL need high speed trains at this juncture?

Indian products are shit, and the less of them Sri Lanka has the better.

INDIAN RAILWAYS will pay the way for major economic growth from now on ! With neatly 1.25 billion people and more people continue to travel in trains. Our privatisation will kick start development of Railway infrastructure programme at faster phase . Lots of investment expected . Which goes in billions and billions of dollars .

Like Sri Lanka can afford chinese high speed super trains.
Look at pakistan railway, they get engines from china. And those engines SUCK..India produces much better and more powerful engines and coaches in low budget.

Indian engines like WDM-2 are grate. But their DMUs (which sent to Sri Lanka) is not good. Chinese ones are much better.

India has no indigenously designed diesel engine that I'm aware of. WDM-2 is a locally produced ALCO engine (American Locomotive Company), designed more than 50 years ago. It was already considered obsolete at the time. ALCO went out of business in 1969, not long after it handed India the blueprints for WDM-2, which was in 1962.

Also, I'm not aware of any indigenously designed electric traction motor from India either. Most electric motors used by India are obsolete designs from Japanese firms such as Hitachi and Kawasaki, which were much cheaper to license.

Pakistan dont need railways son, we got da metro fo dat.

LOL
Maybe India should gift you some WAG 9 locos :D
They are damn powerful and look good too

WAG-9 uses a very old Hitachi reference design, with a locally produced Hitachi HS15250 traction motor, both of which were obsolete decades ago. India bought the designs because licensing fees were cheap.

No need for privatization, only JVs are needed. They transfer the tech. build it and India will get the tech and tecnological base to venture into other regions.

Why should Indian public pay money to sustain white elephants like PSUs that never deliver anything. It was privatization in 1990 that rescued Indian economy, else PSUs left no effort to make Indian poor and bankrupt.

Railways are not white elephants !

Why People Compare Apple With Oranges man m getting sick of these Threads :angry::hitwall::hitwall::hitwall::hitwall:

Comparing railway with railway is hardly comparing apples and oranges. Unless you meant India and China are like apples and oranges in terms of economic development, then I agree. India is simply not in China's league.

However, India vs China is a hugely popular topic in India, so I see no harm in doing a little comparison.

Quality is just ok because they are licensed copies of obsolete American and Japanese designs from decades ago. As far as I know, these Indian copies still can't match the quality and reliability of the originals.

India desperately needs more modern tech for their locomotives.

Railways are not white elephants !

Managed by the sarkari babus YES THEY ARE. Do not forget that railways were running at heavy losses for years because of mismanagement. There are no work ethics in Indian sarkari daftars. And if you pretend otherwise you are plainly lying. This is the reason why India suffered from brain-drain. Qualified professionals fed up with sarkari red-tape migrated abroad and became successful.

In this day and age of double-decker trains and bullet trains we still have diesel/electric engines. Yes things are improving but the face needs to accelerate. There are no railways in north eastern India, is that region not part of India? Only one train line was launched in Arunachal, what about other states?

And what about the state of Indian railway stations? No control, no sense of security, complete chaos and the hub of illegal encroachment along railway tracks. Have you seen those illegal bastis that come up along railway tracks? Why are they allowed, why is the security threat overlooked, what if some terrorist hides there?

India needs a MAJOR overhaul of its railway services. Look at European railway stations and Indian ones, just look at the difference. Bulk of Indian economy survives on railways and highways and both of these are neglected.
