Disastrous rampal PP- Another chanakyan rip off of BD.

If there is negative impact to construction of this PP, then it will be indeed bad for bangladesh.

the question remains is there a central bangladeshi organisation that actually conducts the analysis on environmental impact of major infrastructural projects in bangladesh????

What are the sources of emission stats?

What are the alternates for bangladeshi power requirements??

NTPC selling power to bangladesh at state prices should be viewed as a positive step, it entails that India is treating bangladesh at par with it's own states and not leeching of it as just a customer to make profits from....

Obviously, they are reaping in trade.the deficits is unbelievable. And why the sudden interest in one particular project, which will certainly harm us.if India wanted to help BD by selling power.why not from NE, as promised? In that way they don't need to spend the amount in money like Rampaal.Because the existing NE setup can distribute almost same amount of electricity to BD with less cost in India's part.

Why didn't your state gov and High courts allow your NTPCL to construct such mumbo jumbo junk in your country?

And as for power, there are other sites available for such a plant not necessarily in the periphery of sundarbans. There are some more Coal plants being planned elsewhere. The question here is chanakyan and awami scumbags duplicity in awarding such a environmentally disastrous project to an Indian company on grounds that is yet to be made transparent. It would be a rip off of BD in both financial and environmental terms as per BD experts. No study on its enviormental impact was ever carried out while AL has been lying through its teeth to safeguard the interest of India.

And what do U mean by treating BD on par with Indian states? Why should laws of Indian power regulatory authority be applied in dealing with a foreign country?

My message to Bengalis and Indians is simple, dont bring people who were born in Pakistan like chanakya in to your discussion especially if his name is used as insult.

thanks

Buddy you are throwing pearls of wisdom to the undeserving. Sanity and logic should be strictly avoided when commenting in BD section, just enjoy the never-ending whining.

Sheikh Hasina said: "We need to protect environment, biodiversity and build the country beautifully. We also need economic development and the present government has been working to achieve this goal."

Criticizing the opponents of the Rampal Power Plant, the Prime Minister said her government has taken initiative to dredge the Pashur River and Ghasia Canal to improve and protect environment of the Sundarbans.

"I don't know whether they have any idea about this," she said.

The Prime Minister said it was the Awami League government during which the Sunderbans were included in the World Heritage Site list.

Ruling out the claim of some quarters about the effects of Rampal Power Plant on the Sundarbans, the Prime Minister said, the government has approved Rampal Project assessing all possible impacts on environment and ecology.

"A certain quarter is trying to create confusion among the people about Rampal thermal power plant. But, I want to state that I personally never approved in the past or will approve in future any project that will harm the environment and ecology of our country," she said.

Sheikh Hasina said the government has taken highest measures so that Rampal power project does not cast any adverse impact on the Sundarbans. "High quality coal and latest technology will be used to minimise the air and water pollution," she said.

The Prime Minister said her government has already set up a coal-based power plant in Barapukuria in Dinajpur and it did not cast any adverse impact on the environment in the area.

She asked whether the people who are making hue and cry about the Rampal Power Plant have assessed any impact on the environment, area and the people adjacent to Baropukuria Power Plant? "They could not do this as it is the reality that the plant did not cast any adverse impact," she said.

Govt wont do anything that will harm Sundarbans

Indian prime minister while extending best wishes also assured that Sunderbans will not be harmed because it a national heritage for both our countries.

pollution is a natural consequence of thermal power if u want a clean power go nuclear and even it has got its own risks.typical bnp cheerleaders always trying to find fault with india.perhaps all the geniuses who criticize ur govt move mist form a govt and provide a clean cheap solution for power overnight.

The awami bastards are planning to inaugurate the work on the disastrous Indian sponsored and schemed Rampal PP in Bangladeshi sundarbans next month in Oct. Amazingly Indian states didn't allow NTPC to construct such a disastrous PP in their home country but in BD's case awami bastards allowed it in spite of all environmental experts and economists arguing and protesting against it.

- No feasibility study or its impact on environment was ever carried out.
- It will release 142 tons of Sulphur dioxide, 85 tons of Nitrogen dioxide & huge amount of fly ash everyday.
- It will adversely effect the shrimp industry.
- Serious health hazard for the surrounding villages of sundarbans.
-Possible extinction of numerous plant species.
- Disastrous for the survival of already endangered animal species.
- 50000 people in adjoining areas need to be evacuated to facilitate this chanakyan project.

-The source of coal is yet to be sorted out and the price till now is yet to be fixed while India will take back 50% of the power produced from this plant.
- GOI during the singing of the treaty pressed that GOB will have to buy the electricity at rates the central Indian GOV sells to its State govs. Any less than this would be against the rule of the Power regulatory commission of India. ( Are we now a state of India or something?:what: )

WHy didn't your green panel allow such similar junks by NTPC in your country? DOesn't matter how many junks they operate in India. Why the hell should such a project be at the vicinity of sundarban? Why the secrecy surrounding the terms of the deal? We have other places to allow such Indian rip off but not sundarban.

Green panel refuses permission to NTPC project | INDIAN POWER SECTOR

NEW DELHI: Noting that a thermal power plant near human habitat and on agricultural land was not viable, a Central green panel has refused to give approval to NTPC to set up a 1320 MW coal based project in Madhya Pradesh.

The Public Sector Unit had proposed 2×660 MW coal based thermal power plant over 1000 acres of land in Jhikoli and Tumra villages in Narsinghpur district.

However, the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of the Environment Ministry at a recent meeting noted that the identified land for the power plant seems to be primarily prime agricultural land and the project proponent has failed to give more details on it .

“The site comprises a vast portion of double crop agricultural land which is unacceptable,” noted the panel. It also felt that locating a power plant near the main town of Gadarwara was not desirable. Moreover, giving huge amount of water (32 cusecs) fr om Narmada river was not feasible.

Its apprehension was based on the fact that already a large number of such power plants with water allocation by the state government from the river have been submitted for consideration.

The NTPC has proposed land requirement of 1,000 acres, which comprises mainly non irrigated land and irrigated land while coal requirement of 7.5 million tonnes per annum which was to be obtained from the North Karanpura coal blocks in the state. – PTI

Indian prime minister while extending best wishes also assured that Sunderbans will not be harmed because it a national heritage for both our countries.

Says Hasina and monmahan and we believe. :cuckoo:

ofcourse pollution is a common problem with thermal power stations irrespective of ntpc or not.and biodiversity sites like sunderbans have to be protected.but then do u have any other alternatives for power as soon as possible in the cheapest manner.acquiring agricultural and tribal lands is not only a problem in ur country but also mine.we lost billions of dollars because of land acuisition problems and our govt is trying to introduce land acqistion and rehabilitaion bill to address the concerns of the victims.the problem is more a political one in ur country than a technical one by mine.ntpc has applied for the project because ur govt want thermal power plant.its not other way round.and what do u mean by the bolded part?ntpc already operates many plants in india.its just that some people are trying to do politics with this issue.ntpc has one of the best environment protection standards.read the environment management details for urself from the official site before getting struck in the political debates.

You are welcome to find details in BD official site.there is no tribal issue as you put it in these southern part of BD.similar site for this plant could have been/can be in nearer to rampal by few miles in Barisal/potuakhali belt where, surprisingly gov. Holds 100 of acres of land which is not cultivated.
The environment law is not strong like India, our gov.holds the final write to disperse as fit basis power. So ,if they,in this case are making a huge mistake.
The proposed Rampal site was chosen by the elderly leaders of AL mainly for its political geographic location. Rampal is mostly where majority of Hindu/Christian community of this side of BD leaves.unfortunate for AL they did not look past the vote bank.poor ppl of these area is/was well funded by multi national NGOs for last couple of decade's. What the gov plan's is reap these ppl from their root and rehabitate some deferent part.I am not talking about few families, its 40 villages.
All the accusations are not baseless propaganda as you put in.
When there is smoke, fire is not far.
