Dhaka remains 7th least liveable city globally 2023

Please stop with your stories of flimsy bridges on shallow rivers (canals?) built with garbage tek-na-laaji. We saw how the Bhagalpur Bridge in Bihar collapsed - twice. As if we are supposed to be impressed with 6000 crore figure....

This bridge below was built with Tk.30,000 crores and employs civil engg. tech hitherto unknown globally. The depth of the Padma at the bridge site and the scouring on the riverbed are unprecedented - as is the fierce meandering nature and size of its flows alongwith wind-whipped waves. Where it meets with the Meghna is panic inducing for the less initiated. Any bhakt would literally $hit their pants crossing the river here. People need ball$ to live here - this is not Bhagalpur, Bihar.

The piling hammer for the bridge piles alone was custom built in Germany by Menck, then the world's largest. The pilings went down some 384 feet (38 stories deep). Each pier had six to eight piles driven deep into below the riverbed.

Reported by your own Godi Media but scarce in detail. India is getting this for free to help their transit. Some shuqrana would be nice from bhakts, but knowing how ingrate bhakts are, not expected.

Who informed you that the Ganga River is small? In fact, it is as vast as the Padma River in Bangladesh. Additionally, why are you focused solely on one bridge collapse in Bhagalpur when there are already 23 bridges under construction? The construction of bridges carries a certain probability of incidents occurring, whereas if no bridges were built, there would be no such probability. Take a look at this river drive that runs parallel to the Ganga River. It spans over 80 kilometers in length, with the first phase of 22 kilometers already completed.

The Ganga in Patna maybe vast, but there is hardly any depth in it (very shallow) and flow is minuscule compared to what we have in Bangladesh.

Building bridges in Patna or Bhagalpur are hardly challenges compared to what we have in Bangladesh with the depth and the cusecs flowing (second after Amazon river in Brazil).

Records
  • The Padma River is fast-flowing. In terms of water flow in cusecs - Padma River is second largest river in the world after Amazon River.
  • Piles have been laid on this bridge at a depth of 120 to 128 meters. This is rare in the construction history of bridges because soft riverbed needed a strong foundation.
  • The capacity of ‘Fraction Pendulum Earthquake Bearings’ on this bridge is 10,000 tons. In no other bridges are there such high capacity bearings installed. As a result - the Padma Bridge can withstand Richter scale level 9 earthquake.
  • Bearing between the span and the pier is another world record. Every single bearing used here has a weight-bearing capacity of 10,500 metric tons. Hitherto unprecedented in any other bridges in the world.
  • The area of 14 km (1.6 km at Mawa end and 12.4 km at Jajira end) has been brought under river governance (river training) which is expensive. This is also a record. See below.

Bangladeshi posters here might remember one ignored Indian troll had questioned why we have these two canals next to the Purbachal freeway.

Well I guess they don't know enough about Hydrology in Delhi.....this is near the red fort. Canals could've helped here. And only Bhagwan knows when they dredged the Yamuna last time.....

They keep having these floods almost every year, it started in 1988. No responsibility - no repercussions. "Chalta Hai - Chalney do".... as is typical in Modiland.

But Delhi will still make it to "somewhat livable". They have whores and alcohol (aka "nightlife") you see. :-)

One more reason why cities in Modiland cannot be a role model for livability.

They want to be a super power still don't have a proper drainage system for their capital city.
Just a few days ago, seems like the flood wasn't aware that it entered a supa powa ashian tyga:lol:.

Unlike Delhi which faced record downpour this week

Bangladesh does not want to be a super power like India so flooding of Dhaka can be excused. You have money to buy fancy military hardware from all over the world but don't have money to build a proper drainage system for your capital city. It's a shame.

Bangladesh wants to be a ashian tyga instead, no wonder an average BiDi is getting orgasms over flooding caused by record breaking rainfall in Delhi .

And just fyi the flooding is caused in eastern delhi due to Yamuna overflowing due to rains, rest of Delhi is not at all impacted. Even Noida which has excellent drainage system and was largely unaffected has now got flooded due to the overflow. Think that helps.

Yamuna needs capital dredging so that the overflow does not occur. Spend some money toward dredging Yamuna. If you don't have enough money to buy dredger then ask help from Bangladesh. We will send some dredgers for India:enjoy:

No amount of infra building can stop flooding if you get affected by record breaking rainfall. Other than that, sorry but we don't demand money from beggars.

Bangladesh is the fourth largest remittance destination for India. Calling your employer a beggar is funny:bunny:
