What's new

China outnumbers the U.S. for the first time in this ranking of the world’s ‘best’ universities

Don't understand why Indians always take pride for the number of India-origin CEOs working for foreign MNCs. Modern day CEOs are just like glorified Butlers (Chief of domestic menservents). When it comes to serving foreigners, Indians do a long history and various advantages over Chinese.

Indians should reserve their pride until these Indian are coming back in large numbers as entrepreneurs to help building India.

Indians take pride in working in the world biggest companies, Chinese take pride in creating those companies.

Lol that's a good one.

I would not discount their achievement. This achievement can be used as a stepping stone.
They become the new elite and their children can have a head start.
Their next generation can then branch out into any field.

I have worked in US and initially majority of Indian engineers were in software. Example, our lab cadence support were all Indians. Now they are in IC design, software stimulation etc.

How many of them will go back to work for India?

This is a lie fabricated by the Indian media. In fact, Chinese universities cultivate far more outstanding Chinese CEOs than Indian universities.

In the list of the world's top 500 enterprises, there are 145 enterprises in China, and all CEOs are Chinese.
There are 124 enterprises in USA, including 38 Indian CEOs and 14 Chinese CEOs.

It is not that Chinese people are unwilling to become Google CEO, but that they have more development opportunities in China. The combined turnover of Google, Wal Mart and Amazon is not even more than that of China Tobacco.

The first choice for Chinese people is to return to China and become the CEO of China's top enterprises. Their second choice is to start a business in the USA and become the CEO of their own company, not the CEO of a company owned by Americans.

For example, Huang Renxun, CEO of Nvidia, Su Zifeng, CEO of AMD, Wu Jianmin, CEO of Huamei Bank, Yuan Zheng, CEO of Zoom, etc.

BTW: Chinese CEOs are not only far more than Indians. Moreover, Chinese CEOs work in enterprises created by themselves, while Indian CEOs do not. Indian universities cannot produce outstanding entrepreneurs. Indian universities will only teach you to make cow dung chips.

You can't depend on one or two leaders to run a big country, but you need hundreds of thousands of great leaders, or even tens of millions, in every aspect of a country down to the smallest one.

You have a great president, but if you don't have a great leader to manage garbage in a small community, another one for food distribution, another one for education, another one for healthcare, etc, sum up all of it, isn't the whole country will become a mess.

Each person, each family, each community, should take responsibility for themselves, sum up all of it, then you can have a great country.

That thread is finally a good one, China's educational Advancements are more scary for USA than their Military's advancement.

That was not my point. It's Indians' constant bragging about the number of Indian CEOs and higher-than-anyone-else Indian-American family income, that became really annoying. For all inexplicit indian's superiority and explicit no. of CEOs in foreign MNCs, why can't Indians build something like Huawei, BYD, DJI, Tencent, Tiktok, etc. for their own?

Is it true that the good Indians can only be at their best in foreign land, otherwise they could be just another piece of s..t in that gigantic sh....le?

That actually shows that the brain drain in India is very serious. Those Indians who deserve high salaries have left India.

I wonder why Indians are happy about it. Those Indians who left were trained with Indian resources, but they did not serve India in the end.

The Indians in US never really save US tech sector decline. These days, only the ICT sector is still standing. Even semicon is going freefall in USA.

Great accomplishment.

But the West still has the reputation for having the best institutions in the world. Unfortunately.
Well, you should look at the criteria to become the top university in the world. That's the number of Nobel prize that they taken. The problem is, even if the Universities in China can surpass the American Universities in education quality, research, etc, as long as they can't get any Nobel Prize, they won't become the top Uni in the world.

A Norwegian parliamentary token award can't validate any institution's real worth.

Western Nobel prize is fast losing its appeal , besides, Japan won lots of them but can stop their schools keep sliding in all rankings.

These days, it has to be politically correct to award anyone any Nobel prize, therefore Japan gets lots of them becos it is a good puppet and student of the West, and China can only get few of them for against or criticizing Chinese system and society.
