Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary CT Ravi has called for boycotting the 'halal' meat, alleging that it was a part of the 'economic jihad' being spread by the Muslim community. The BJP legislature said that the meat was put in place so that no community member does business with others, which has been forced upon them. He spoke to the media on Tuesday, March 29, in Bengaluru.
"How Muslims feel that halal has to be imposed, the same way it is not wrong for others to say not to use it," Hindustan Times quoted the minister as saying.
Ravi's comments come a day after the Hindu Janajagruthi Samithi launched a nationwide campaign demanding a ban on Halal meat. Reportedly, they said it would pave the way for India to become an Islamic state. The group also called for the prohibition of Halal certification labelled food products that are permissible to consume in Islam, excluding pork-related edibles, animal fats and other dairy generated products and all types of alcohol. According to the report, the group pointed out that the animals culled in this process were done so by offering it to 'Allah', and if Hindus had done the same, it would have been quoted as offensive. Karnataka Govt's Response Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the government will look into the 'halal' meat issue as 'serious objections' have now been raised about it.
Responding to Hindu Janajagruthi Samithi's call for boycotting, Bommai said that the government was not favouring any wings but looked into what was right. The new demand is being viewed as an extension of the ongoing protest against the community, which has refused to die down in the state. Calls For Ban On 'Himalaya' Products Amidst the calls for a 'halal' meat ban, people are also demanding boycotting the pharmaceutical company Himalaya, claiming it uses halal-certified meat in its products. A photo has been widely circulated on social media, where it states that the firm maintains Halalness of the herbal, chemical, food colour products. It further claims the company's products comply with Islamic Law/ Shariah and are free from any forbidden ingredients under Islamic Law. Halal Certification The certification is given for products by several Islamic governments. In India, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI ) certification can be seen on almost all processed foods, but it doesn't give halal accreditation in India. Halal certification is provided by many private companies in India, conveying that the products are permissible for the followers of Islam.

Completely disgusting behaviour. India is definitely heading towards an exodus of its Muslim population. Take a look at the “Hindustan times” YouTube comment section, and I guarantee that you’ll find something islamphobic there. Things are only going to get worse, and Pakistan needs to be ready for a potential spike in Muslim migrants from India in the future

Running away would be the worst thing to do.

We’ve seen political leaders in India openly support a massacre of Muslims.
There was one quote, I can’t remember who said it, but it said:
“If a billion of us (Referring to Sikhs and Hindus in India) take sword against 300 million of them (The Muslims in India) , we can cleanse India of corruption”

Read some comments under similar tweets. It cracked me up. Good luck :p:

It is ok to demand food/products as per your religious sanction, but at the same time you cannot ban someone else from doing so. There are two broad categories here where halal certification is an issue - food and non-food. In food, Hindus and Sikhs have the same requirements - jhatka meat, although both will eat Halal, like Christians in the western world will eat Kosher / Halal. The industry practice moves towards those who are more particular, in this case Muslims and Jews.

The Hindu / Sikh requirement comes from the belief that jhatka is least painful way of slaughtering, just as Muslims / Jews believe their way is better. Let's not argue about this. But beyond the pain/suffering aspect, Hindus and Sikhs do not really have any conditions about how the food should be processed. So when I see the tweet from the lady about boycotting Himalaya products, which are basically cosmetics, and are unlikely to contain animal products, I am not sure what she wants. Secondly, if Hindus / Sikhs want non animal products to be non-Halal, they need to come up with a term for it. Non-Halal will not do, because it is just a negation. It tells what you don't want. It does not tell what you want. Maybe the halal way of making soap (whatever it means), is what you want too. So this boycott stuff is quite silly if you yourself don't know what you want.

Going back to the ban part, I repeat, we have no right to demand ban. We can simply say we want things processed / manufactured this way. Companies will have to come up with 2 different lines of products - Halal and 'Whatever non Halal is'. I already know one food company that does this. I am sure there are more.

BTW this thought has been floating around in western intelligentsia as well - that Muslims and Jews have it their way. That we have to adjust to their requirements. The truth is that no is asking you to adjust. Just demand what you want, and it will be made. Surely, efficiencies may reduce and push costs up for everyone, but that's ok. It is the price we have to pay if we want things our way.

PS: I have no clue how halal applies in non food sectors. Can someone throw light on this? Like, is there a halal TV?

Running away to a foreign land should not even be an option. They have tens of thousands of years of ancestral rights and thousands of years of identity on the land. Other than that, it makes Hindus think Halal is wrong and they are right.

Himalya mainly does it for it's gulf customer base. Also, any such action will have negative impact on indian exports and more avenues for bureaucracy to make money

If the BJP is leading to a massacre of Muslims in the land, it would be more than fair enough for them to leave.

They are only objecting because it is a Muslim concept. The alternative is eating dead, sick animals and those who are electrocuted or beaten to death.

It would be funny to see Brownshirt soyboys barging into restaurants to ensure they are serving haram, vegetarian food (the plant can't be snipped cleanly off its stem, it must be beaten to death or diseased).
