What's new

ASELSAN has sold 16 E/O ASELPODs to Pakistan for $25 million

I am sure these 15 PODs are for the 16 F-16s from Jordan.
No they are for JF-17. We are not happy with the current targeting pod which we are using with JF-17. We are looking for replacement and if this one performs good we would opt for this one in large numbers

Why not PAC work with Turkey to get F-16 V upgrade avionics for JF-17s Block-II and Block-IIIs. Why not integrate Targeting POD in JF-17s like on Scorpions and Predictor UAVs.

Pods for JF-17 but real question is its for Pakistan or for export?
We read the information about aselpod integration to another jet after F-4s and F-16s so pods for JF-17s.

they are for the air force as precision strikes plus additional tasks are only carried out by few F16 Blk52's presently. this will allow JF17 to carry out more strikes without relying solely on F16's.

They are for Jordanian F-16s. It makes sense, the article says they will be integrated with aircraft, but it does specify which aircraft. I'm pretty much sure it is F-16 as they're ADF versions and are not capable of using precision strike weapons as of yet! But will change once they integrate these pods.

1. The PAF already has F-16s flying with 37 Sniper ATPs.

2. The PAF will not integrate non-U.S. systems to the F-16s.

3. Aselsan said that the customer will be producing a pylon for the ASELPOD, clearly indicating that this is a platform which the ASELPOD is not yet cleared for (i.e. JF-17).

The ASELPOD is for the JF-17. The ADF F-16s are to serve in air defence and close air support; and provide a much needed OCU squadron to absorb new F-16 pilots and save flight hours on the more sophisticated airframes. Essentially, the upgraded F-16s will now not spend that many flight hours on training pilots on how to fly a F-16. New pilots will go to the OCU, then have a brief avionics transition onto the F-16AM or Block-52. Those airframes then can be limited on fatigue and flight hours by focusing those on operational readiness and tactical training whilst these ADF airframes take the brunt of the hours.

What are capabilities of ADF we got?
Aren't we planning to upgrade them with similar MLU from Turkey?

cant the sniper pods simply be integrated on jordanian ADF if needed, i am sure usa will have no objection on sniper pods to be honest, if needed

Per Turkish rep at IDEAS 2016 pods will be delivered in 2017 (for JF 17 confirmed , video on YouTube) to pak so integration will happen at kamra (I think)
