Turkey shows interest in JF-17 Thunder

With an increasing Turkish interest in JFT, we now have multiple sources of avionics to equip it with.

1. Chinese

2. Pakistani

3. French (ACM mentioned they are still on)

4. Italians are working for a package to meet our requirements including a new radar

5. Turkish Aselsan avionics are among advanced tools and making various suites and sensors for Turkish f-16s for at least two decades.

So many options available guys that i get confused what we will have and what not. lol

Great news for PAF & PAC , if true . I already mentioned in my many posts that pak and turkey should develop or co produce Avionics and weapons for thunder as we all knw turkey is more xpert in this field then pakistan. Coz they r key contributer in Jsf. My dreams come true

How to check that my how many posts, threads and thanks a person's rank is increased??? Please repli as quick as possible. like the chart about the rank????

gentlemen...FC-1 price is between $16-18M whereas JF-17 price will go much as $18-$25M.

Turkey has atleast 50 upgraded F-5 2000 where as other F-5s fate is unknown but are in good use for number of years.
Most likely Turkish Air Force will replace atleast 4 Squadrons with EF-2000 Typhoons replacing F-5s if not completely since the data on wikipedia is confusing, and the new F-16 Blk 52s ordered and to be delivered in 2011 could replace a couple of squadrons of F-4s. F-35s would replace the remaining F-4s squadrons plus additional 2-3 squadron strength. As optional 30 more F-35s offered to Turkish Air Force might replace other F-5s as data shows on wikipedia.

JFT is more on par with Blk 40 at this stage and will grow even better than many anticipate. Turkish interest is a breaking news as they already have a capable fighter fleet. It could serve at TuAF's mid end.

I am not too sure if turks would ever want to use JF-17,
it does not make a lot of sense; since they have access to better technology abundantly.

What makes sense is the Turks believe Pak + China = JF-17 is a good business model, and want to join the train while their contribution holds good value.

Now this makes a lot more sense, doesn't it ?

salman108...take Turkish as Italians who has given us Grifo radars and the license to manufacture and sell, They might not want it they've option to EF-2000s, but they have upgraded F-4s and F-5s and access and know how to western technologies.

Western a/c comes with strings attached and cannot be used against friends of the supplier nation.
Producer always know how to jam its own missiles, hence can always be sold as a separate package to your enemy state.

I agree with whats been said;
but eventually it comes down to business decission.
Italians do it because they are in it to make money;

When ever a deal or a transaction takes places it follows ONE simple logic:
the buyer always think he is getting some thing better for the money and can do some thing more useful with the product
the seller always thinks he is making money on his hard work

Once this state is achieved, a business transaction happens.

Don't get me wrong I am in no matter trying to undermine the friendship and the relationships Pakistan and Turkey have enjoyed.
Courtesy Gen Musharraf they are very very good.
and I hope they keep getting better.

Turkey is only interested in joint development of avionics, missiles for JF-17. Azerbaijan will be the customer for JF-17. Armenians have occupied 20% of Azeri territory. US, Russia and European countries are not providing major arms to Azerbaijan. Turkey shows solidarity with Turkic people Azerbaijan, Central Asia and Uighuristan (Xinjiang under Chinese control).

IF it is true then its one hell of a news as Turkey may get its Production facility at TAI and get more customers by its influence and diplomacy.

Though the statement does not specify if Mr Gul is interested in the jet for procurement for Turkish Air force or he Just liked our bird for acquiring its Production in Turkey for foreign allied Nations and meeting new orders .

Nevertheless - our Chinese folks and their Pakistani counterparts deserve a pat on the shoulder for Developing this formidable bird.

JF-17 is a great aircraft but currently we would have no use for it. Our fleet of Multi-Role F-16s work for everything and our F-4 2020 terminators are our deep strike aircraft(Regular ones are interceptors).We already have 216 F-16s in service and set to receive 30 more F-16s by next year and 116-120 F-35s by 2016-17.Plus more then half the fleet is currently undergoing upgrades to CCIP standard. I am not sure as to where the JF-17 would fall in all this.

Perhaps the emphasis is for R&D not much as to purchase R&D cooperation is highly valued asset
