-Air to air refueling
-New avionics
-New EW suite
-Dual seat version
plus new weapons integration
and this might include composite and IRST.

So this means NO AESA bt only improved present one.(i wish we were able to install a PESA)
No more engine thrust.
No diamond nose

i think the AESA,diamond nose,new engine,TVC will be incorporated in the block III which is only 4 years away

even with the confirmed upgrade JFT II will be a potent Fighter

upgrated JF-17 even without AESA is more than good enough to play its role in PAF, you know PAF is gonna have more expensive fighters like F-20s to do the 'fancy' jobs
 
nothing about improved or new radar?
10% more engine thrust and the most imp composite to decrease weight and increase life
A need for better engine would have been there if there would have been a significant weight addition by newer avionics and importantly AESA (which would have definately added more weight).....If the newer avionics turn out to be smarter than the earlier ones, we may even have more TWR with the same RD-93....

in short summary please tell me the disadvantage of the black smoke from this engine appart from contributing to global warming due to its carbon emission.

IR missiles can get a better lock on during WVR? and also opposing pilots can easily sport JF-17 through it's black smock

wrong opposing pilot will look in his radar screen jf-17 is not stealth yaar . and IR missiles reach to heat not smoke :P

The smoke results from unburnt fuel, thus a statement with continuously smokey engine is that it would be less efficient than a smokeless engine. Having said that most of the engines around the globe suffer from this problem when the are on reheat, which includes a sudden increase in fuel supply, often resulting in incomplete burning and thus smoke. The disadvantage however, of a consistently smokey engine is that it increases the chances of visibility of aircraft in case of a dogfight. However, if somebody says that It enhances the IR signature, that would be an exaggeration since IR signatures depend upon the IR profile, which depends upon aircraft's heat signature (to which smoke does not add anything)......Yes if the missile is dual seeker i.e. has both IR and Optical Seekers, then it would be a problem.
 
If Smoke trail helps IR locking then Mig-29 is a failed aircraft, Mikoyan has produced more than 1600 units of Mig-29.. I wonder how they bamboozle buyers!!

IR missile are fond of heat and not carbon..
 
How you people think that JFT will get AESA in just 4 years whether typhoon and rafale didn't get it up till now,it will be a big achievement if we get some advancment in very small time of its production

whenjft was in testing phase and question was regarding its avionics we heard a loud roar that will get aesa and after the pesa had been selected we said that it will be inaugurated in block 2 now same thing is going on and we are now thinking for blk 3 ithink jf 17 is built to replace f 7s mirage 3s znd a5s and for export to 3rd world countries so the prsent state radar is good for its requirements and dont expect much from 13 m plane..........
 
yeah this is true bt i think we are expecting much from jft lke aesa dimond shape nose iest and other things like that and even typhoon and rafale are without aesa uptill now. no dout jft is a great platrorm esp for paf bt it will take time to be like f15 su 27 ......
 
Hi,

What is you people's FETISH with exhaust smoke---and what do you know tactically about it----looking from the discussion---nothing---zilch---you people just want to talk and look intelligent----.

In real terms---exhaust smoke is nothing----it does not do any thing to alleviate the presence of the aircraft---the only problem is in your brains which have a difficult time understanding and a lack of knowledgle about fighter aircraft---. Just because you people can talk, doesnot mean you know about it.

The electronic eye does not care about the presence of the smoke or the lack of the smoke---and neither does your anti aircraft missile----so then who gets advantage of the smoke----it is you people looking up in the sky staring at the smoke trail judging which way the plane has gone and that makes no difference on the missile launch or air craft detecetion system---which are care free of any smoke trail.

Is their a limit to human stupidity over here----we are talking about awacs which can see the aircraft from 300 + miles away or the aircraft radar which can see from a 50--100 miles away---and the fools are fighting over here to death about this smoke trail that is visible for a mile----danged damnationto to the danged fools---.
 
jf-17 has a large carbon footprint due to smoking engine...
greenpeace wont like it ;)
