The latest issue of AFM, carries a three page article on Dubai Airshow, headed by the JF-17 piece. The author discloses that there are at least five countries showing serious interest. One of these is Egypt, their CAS was seen being shown around the aircraft's cockpit displays. He said, "We are very interested and have sent a pilot to China to train on the simulator". Other countries interested include Sudan and Algeria.
 
it would be better if they equip maritime strike squadron with blk 2.
Which will be more stealth, additional hard points, equipped with IFR and AESA.

Not coming in Block 2 as per recent Official disclouser by PAC higer ups. KLJ-7 is tweaked more to provide more modes and upgraded it's durability., that's it on Radar side.
 
Block 2 is not a very big differences from Block 1. Minor changes with some addtionals.
 
According to Alan Warnes, to date, 38 0f the 42 Block-1s have been assembled at PAC, the last example expected in April, by which time No 26 and No 16 squadrons will have been joined by a third unit. Manufacture of a second batch of 50 Block 2 will commence in mid-2012. Their enhancement over the Block 1s will include smarter avionics, better weapons, air-to-air refuelling, enhanced datalink and development of a dual-seat version.

nothing about improved or new radar?
10% more engine thrust and the most imp composite to decrease weight and increase life
 
so no aesa fro next 100 or no aesa for next 50?

what about air refueling?

The Chengdu Aerospace Corporation (CAC)/ Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) JF-17 Thunder was demonstrated at the Dubai Air Show in November in a bid to market the fighter aircraft as a low-cost alternative to established platforms.


The Chinese and Pakistani manufacturers of the FC-1/JF-17 Thunder are looking to market the aircraft on the international market as a low cost but capable alternative to more expensive established offerings.

Making only its second appearance at a major international air show, the Thunder is being geared towards a number of international markets beyond Southwest Asia and the Middle East.

"Look at the aircraft many air forces are flying in developing countries - MiG-21s, F-5s, F-4s; these are all aircraft where their airframe life is over and they must be replaced," said the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Commander-in-Chief, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman.

"When you look at the capabilities required for a modern fighter aircraft you see that they all come at a high cost. [The] JF-17 comes in at almost one third the cost of any other aircraft with similar capabilities and this is our competitive advantage in the market."

The PAF programme team at PAC in Kamra are now finalising the design for the Block 2 version of the aircraft. PAF and CAC officials listed some of the main features of the next iteration of the aircraft, including a new advanced complement of avionics and an air-to-air-refuelling capability, as well as the development of a two-seat variant. There is also a new version of the aircraft's China Electronics Technology Corporation (CETC) KG300G electronic warfare suite that expands the coverage of its frequency band.

However, there are no plans at present to change out the aircraft's Nanjing Research Institute of Electronics Technology (NRIET) KLJ-7 radar set for an alternative model. PAF programme executives told Jane's : "The KLJ-7 was our choice; the Chengdu team proposed another radar set but we took this one and have now made a number of improvements to it to the point where we are very satisfied with it."

There have been persistent reports that the PAF is also looking at a set of avionics and weapons provided by Denel and other South African industry partners. Denel's A-Darter air-to-air missile is a particularly attractive option as the JF-17 is fitted with the older Chinese-made LOEC PL-5IIE missile.

It is unclear whether the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) will ever procure the aircraft. Some PAC personnel have stated that there is a divergence in the programme and that "the JF-17 variant ... developed by Pakistan will incorporate third-country systems and this is not for the PLAAF. [The Chinese] will instead operate the FC-1 version of the aircraft with Chinese-made systems on board."

ACM Suleman did not make this distinction when asked if the PLAAF will also be a customer, saying: "The JF-17 will find its position in the PLAAF, but we do not know when as we are not advised of the Chinese armed forces' timetable."

First 1.

plus new weapons integration
and this might include composite and IRST.

So this means NO AESA bt only improved present one.(i wish we were able to install a PESA)
No more engine thrust.
No diamond nose

i think the AESA,diamond nose,new engine,TVC will be incorporated in the block III which is only 4 years away

even with the confirmed upgrade JFT II will be a potent Fighter

This is the truth. The second options... well those maybe for Block III??

Since no 26 squadron is re-equip with thunders on 11th april[1] than by that logic if this video is shot in october(assuming) than 150 hrs in 6 months which makes 150/6=25 hrs a month which roughly equals just under one flight hour per day.

senior members please shed some light on it.

Ronald was and most probably would still be part of the T&E team, just like Wing Cdr Khalid in above video, thus these pilots have been flying the JF-17 for past many years, thus have lot of flight hrs on them. Seniors may have much more then that. The martyred Sqd Ldr M Hussain was also part of the T&E team, thus we lost an experienced Thunder pilot.

senior members please shed some light on it.

being a senior pilot, he must have flown the JFT when it was under T&E at Kamra before re-equipping with 26S / spiders. so i would not dismiss his claim.

this is an old interview by CCTV in the beginning of this year ,but it was to be spread during dubai airshow .

Explains my theory. Right after a day of crash, I came up with detailed information and personal report on it, which turned out to be mostly true. I said over there, that Squadron Leader Mohammed Hussain Shaheed was flying a newly produced JF-17 which was on its trials.
