Azerbaijan Defence Programs & Military Development

Maybe because we're close enough anyway? And Turkey made clear in the past that Nakhchivan will not be touched. Tansu Ciller amassed thousands of troops along the border when Armenia shelled it in the 90s.
I've always liked her. Economy Professor, Celik kuvvet, made the world recognize PKK as a terror organization.

I think her husband was a douchebag or something. Süleyman Demirels Family (relatives ?) were douchebags too I think.

I don't remember much as I wasn't much into politics, and still a kid :), but I do remember the exchange rates going crazy during her time too. 1 USD = 55.000 TL etc.

Demirel is a douchebag.

Demirel is a douchebag.
I was too young for politics back then, so can't say anything about that. I'd have to ask my Uncle about those politics.

How great wouldn't it be to know the reasons behind all those decisions... But perhaps some of it are still top secret.

And then General Shaposhnikov threatened that Turks will face consequences and Ankara backed off

and no it wasn’t during Ciler
No much we could do back then, as sending in soldiers would have triggered a similar ex-sovjet response. Especially considering how Russia is backing Armenia.

We can only back Azerbaijan and arm them with what's possible atm. as I mentioned earlier, if Azerbaijan starts a war to take back Karabagh, I don't expect Russia to interfere as it's Azerbaijani lands recognized by UN.

Has the situation calmed between Armenia and Azerbaijan or is it getting worse? The news seems to died down now.

I imagine TSK being present in Azerbaijan now is making sure the Armeniens have pulled back. Continuing now would definitely not be a very smart move.

Also, I am not sure the TSK is going to pull back, it'll be a long "training" session. Even a chance to build a base and "deploy".

I doubt Az will ever start offensive op to reclaim enclave. I don’t know much about this post soviet conflict but looking at google maps I see that opposite side controls pretty much all the high ground and had dug in multilayered fortifications. To dislodge them Az will need massive firepower to cover entire front and not just one area, lots of well trained infantry, endless stockpiles of missiles, artillery shells, mortar rounds and high level coordination. Tanks will be useful in southern area parallel to Iranian border but not anywhere else. In order to deploy Air Force, AZ somehow must somehow neutralize Arm AD forces in Armenia. Obviously they can’t fire at them due to russian presence so EW must be top notch jamming out of Nakhchivan. Medical care must be on point field and city hospitals will be flooded with wounded.
Once it’s over who is going to pay for reconstruction? It will cost billions and Az economy is not doing too well.
