During the clashes with China at the LAC, India had used the T-72 and T-90 tanks, which though efficient, had proved to be too heavy for the high altitude battlefields in the Himalayas

New Delhi: The Indian Army may receive a major boost at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) against the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China in April.

The Zorawar light tank, which being developed in a joint collaboration between DRDO and L&T, is scheduled to be rolled out that month.

The joint venture between the DRDO and L&T for the Zorawar light tank project is part of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative of the central government that intends to boost indigenous defence production.

According to a report by ‘Times now’, the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) of the defence ministry last month approved the Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for purchasing 354 units of the Zorawar light tank through the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.

Indian Defence Research Wing (IDRW) said in a report that Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is the lead system integrator of the program to develop the prototype of the Zorawar light tank.

A scale model of the Zorawar light tank, which is expected to weigh around 25 tonnes, was showcased for the first time at the Defence Expo in October last year.

After going through technical trials, the prototype of the Zorawar light tank is expected to enter user trials with the Indian Army by the end of 2023.

The program to develop the Zorawar light tank was fast-tracked after the PLA of China deployed of its Type 15 Black Panther light tank at the LAC.

In an attempt to counter this move by China, the Indian Army had deployed several T-72 and T-90 tanks at the LAC, but these heavier tanks find it difficult to operate effectively at the rarefied heights of the Himalayas.

The Zorawar light tank is intended to overcome the limitations of medium battle tanks and equip the Indian Army for all contingencies in high altitude battlefields.

The Zorawar Light Tank that is getting developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will be equipped with all the modern technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Drone Integration, a high degree of situational awareness, and amphibious operation capability. Also, it will have a crucial role in defending against enemy gunships.

DRDO is putting a lot of effort to avert any major threats and also tackle the upcoming war-related ammunition.

Light Tank named after Dogra Army General
The tank has been named after the legendary erstwhile Dogra Army General who led multiple, victories in Tibet which is now controlled by the Chinese Army. Usually, high altitude areas, range from 11000-16500 ft. above sea level and are under the grip of extreme weather conditions. The tailor-made light tanks are getting developed with this view only to curb difficulties faced in the operations and sustenance of tracked vehicles in the northeastern borders. One of the biggest benefits of the light tank is that they are 'air portable' and can conveniently be deployed in critical areas. The Light tank will have a lot of features such as a high power-to-weight ratio, superior firepower, protection, surveillance, and greater communication capabilities. It will also possess the lethal firepower to defeat the armour of low-flying helicopters.

India crosses T-72 with T-90 to create deadly hybrid tank

The latest move by the Indian Army to improve the firepower and overall performance of its fleet of Russian tanks involves a unique improvisation that has produced a hybrid of two iconic tanks – the T-72 and the T-90

New Delhi: With the weaknesses of Russia’s tanks being exposed during the ongoing war with Ukraine, the Indian Army has decided to upgrade the Russian armour in its inventory.

The latest move by the Indian Army to improve the firepower and overall performance of its fleet of Russian tanks involves a unique improvisation that has produced a hybrid of two iconic tanks – the T-72 and the T-90.

The move intends to upgrade the now vulnerable T-72 Main Battle Tanks (MBT) with newer technology and improved firepower.

This is expected to provide the Russian tanks in the Indian Army a better chance to survive the battlefields of modern day warfare. This is especially important given the not too impressive performance of Russian tanks during the invasion of Ukraine.

The T-72 tanks have not only underperformed during the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, but have also prompted the Russians to develop the latest T-90M variant of the T-90 in an effort to create a decisive impact in the conflict.

The Indian Army, meanwhile, has created a unique hybrid tank by combining the main body of the T-72 tank with the turret of the T90 Bhishma.

This hybrid tank, which boasts more firepower than the original T-72, has also been reinforced with an Explosive Reactive Armour (ERA) originally developed by DRDO for the Arjun MBT.

This hybrid tank, which has been spotted while undergoing tests, is also equipped with Cannon-fired ATGMs.

This hybrid of the T-72 and T-90 tanks will be powered by the V92S2 high-power multifuel engine that boasts 1,000 hp and has been specifically designed for the T-90 MBT.

This hybrid tank is scheduled to be rolled out within the next few months and is expected to undergo desert trials for the first time this summer.

Looks more like Indian army is riding one. The Chinese one
You know we've captured a fair portion of the Dongzhang Waterfall and have established a sentry post there since 2001. Chinese media reports further allege India to have demolished a wooden bridge in 2001, that was used by Tibetans to access the Falls, and even setting up a sentry post to block their entry.

Doesn't seem like that

That is because you have poor comprehension skills due to possible madrassa education.

This is a Hard Indian Tank which will be used to penetrate and enter enemy territories and cause considerable Damage. Bleeding is guaranteed.
