Z-10 or T-129 Atak or AH-1Z for the Pakistan Army?

a dear friend from childhood is in SSG and says that they have come under fire the moment they come out of helicopters and even the helicopter crew has suffered while dropping off troops.

Remember the incident where a Mi-17 got hit by a RPG while it was picking off troops?

The Mil was picking up troops and engines were hot, suddenly out of nowhere a RPG hit the co-pilot side. The whole side sheared off, co-pilot cockpit instruments destroyed, and a big hole on that side. Co-pilot got injured. The heli flew safely back to base (can't remember which one), and then with a couple of small touches and checks, flew to Dhamial with a sheet of tarpaulin covering the big hole on co-pilot side...!

and not to forget RPG that is employed to down American helis in Afghanistan.
@Sura Kiran you are right the mountains give a good opportunity to insurgents to launch an ambush on the helicopters.

Why didn't they use fast rope method?

We are not going to induct choppers in big numbers so for limited numbers T-129 is good option. We shouldn't waste this opportunity.

Pakistan should go for Some T129 for better experience, and bring these experience to China for improving WZ10x. Ok with my idea?

WZ10 wih WZ16 Shaft engines is a deadly machine as Apahe! Compared to At129, WZ10 got vast potential for updation in the future. Currently , At129 is better.

Next time we could organize a red flag exercise between WZ10 and PAF AT129, must have lots of fun out there.

Well T-129 or WZ-10 are attack helli... they have to be in the theatre, for backup.

Our patrols and camps usually got hit by sheer numbers of militants and we loose there most.

near by attack helli, can always come to the salvage, IMO our troops shall never move out of helli protection circle.

Last but not least.. why do you think US is not willing that Pakistan get hellis and attack drones.. there got to be a sane reason behind.

WZ-10 will be far superior than T-129. Let's not talk about the tech, just the shaping and design of WZ-10 is far modern and up to date than T-129 which is an 80's era product. WZ-10 RCS reduction will make it stealthy and harder for radar to pick it up than T-129. Just like how USAF Stealth hawk venture into Pakistan and carry out the audacious raid for OBL.

Thats not really the point, T-129 is also painted with RAM Material. Its about what Pakistan needs, T-129 first production variant is COIN dedicated and this is what pakistan needs while the WZ-10 might be a overkill. If Pakistan ever wished so we could upgrade them to the level of WZ-10 or perhaps even better (T-129B2).

But acc. to Icarus Taliban shot down:
They have shot down more than 2 Mi-17s, about 3 bells and 2 cobras, civil copter with gun you say ? I think quite the opposite.

You have a crappy arguement.

If stealth was so useful for rotary-wing aircraft they wouldn't cancel the Commanche project in the first place. RAH-66 was much more advanced, had a special rotor blade design and carried weapons internally. WZ 10 lacks both features. Even the landing gear is carried outside.

Don't do it. We are talking about a rotor craft which is able to attack the targets with a range from max. 8km with missiles (with advanced missiles 12km), 2-3 km with munitions. Suppose that The design you have developed is ultra-super stealth one. Do you suppose that A rotor craft can't be detected by a radar system with a range from 8km since It is super stealth ?

T-129 Atak has been covered with both RAM paint and materials as well which will be benefical to be stealth but If It is an helicopter on issue, Then Being ultra-stealth doesn't make much sense because Those machines are mostly developed for assymetric warfare and mobility armour hunters on close ranges.

Besides, I think Noone has any suspicious about state of art technological hardwares T-129 Atak carrying but Regarding performance, Current Chinese attack helicopter can't cope with neither T-129A, nor B1 or B2 versions. It is not my claim. Check the specifications and compare them on yourself...
