YouTube blocked in Saudi Arabia after Anti-Islam film

I'm not saying Saudi should kick out U.S diplomats or attack its embassy.But I remember days when Arab world stopped selling oil to west because of their support to Israel in 73 war,well that Arab world is gone and today,we see Saudi Arabia tries to increase it's oil production to lower the oil prices so that western economies don't go in to crisis further.What kind of country tries to lowers the prices of its main natural resources?You may want to bring me some economic reasons,but still,it's unacceptable.

I would pick 2012. For a multitude of reasons. From 1978-2005 we particularly were for all intents amd purposes a US satellite state especially from 1991-2001 but things have changed dramatically since then.

Saudi Arabia demands YouTube block anti-Islam film

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has threatened to block all access to YouTube inside the kingdom unless the site cuts local access to a film which mocks the Prophet Mohammad, state news agency SPA reported late on Tuesday.

YouTube owner Google Inc. has already blocked access to the film in Egypt, Libya, India and Indonesia after deadly protests in several countries, but it has rejected a request by the White House to pull it from the site altogether.

“In implementation of the directives of King Abdullah… (the regulator) contacted Google to block all electronic YouTube links containing the film and in the case of a failure to respond to this request, the regulator will block all access to YouTube (in Saudi Arabia),” a government statement carried by SPA said.

It was still possible to view a clip of the film on YouTube early on Wednesday inside the conservative Islamic kingdom.

The statement said internet service providers in Saudi Arabia had also been asked to block access to the film.

Of course they can, & they are probably going to do that for the time being. Generally, videos blocked on Youtube in this country are either those that contain too much nudity or those that mock Islam. According to the article I posted on post #63 of this thread, Youtube has rejected the White House's request to permanently remove the video. So if Youtube blocks all links leading to that film in Saudi Arabia, it would be as if the video never existed because no hints of it would remain visible to anyone accessing Youtube from the Kingdom. I think that's a reasonable demand & Youtube will be able to meet it easily, so people here do not need to worry about the website getting blocked. Lets not forget that Middle Eastern companies advertise using Youtube as well so completely blocking the website could be a major blow to them, & to Google as well.

We are increasing our oil production to hurt Iran. Get with the program. Saudi Arabia and Iran have the potential to sell oil at whatever price they want if they worked together. But since your country choose the way of conflict, then you have to deal with the consequence.
