What's new

Your school years

I still go to school, lol. Couldn't really contribute to this thread. Will try.
Primary was fun, not really useful. 6 to 7 was the growing phase learned a lot, interacted with different people, had different experiences(@Shamain , you know which one's), tough to swallow. 8 to 9 was also very special, made great friends, teachers were good. Never really bullied ever in school. 10 was tough O level started, again learned a lot. And 11 starting this year.
Overall good experience.
Lolz i think i do know lolzzzzzzzzz.

People evolve, people learn. Whenever i think about it i must say that was tough to swallow at that age. Learning from time to time.

I loved my school and University years, I have very fond memories of both Pakistan and the UK. Still remember all my favourite teachers names from way back.

all schooling is brainwashing in someway, only value schools should try to put in your head is a healthy dose of skepticism, so that you can look back and question even your education.
the way science is taught in school(in India) is no different from religion..

Yes & that's a reflection of societies being insecure all over the world. Some how a child has to learn certain things in a certain way to influence him & to guide him towards certain things & guard against certain things.
It's not just the case in South Asia, it's a universal thing. I some times wonder how big a part the revultion of church played in major scientific discoveries.

Hey u said u dont know urdu then how u know the word 'tharki'??? Are u pakistani origin?
Anytime there's a post or thread about men looking at hot chicks, tharki is used, after awhile the meaning became obvious. My first Urdu word I learned thanks to PDF. 8-)

I'm a pale European mutt.

I can teach u better urdu words.

If u say : ' mujhay funny log achay lagtay hain'

It will mean : ‘i like funny people'. U can memorize this line and use somewhere if u need .

Mujhay is harder, is it Muj-hay, or is the h silent, or does the jh combination make a whole different type of sound? :undecided:

you can definitely tell which way the kids walked.

HuiMy school days were a mix .I liked games period the most.I always wished at least one teacher should be on leave so that we could go for games. There used to be this period called AV (audio visual)room period where they always used to show tom and jerry only.It was the most boring period;we were taken to it only when a teacher was on leave..but the good thing about it is we could know the score when a cricket match was on.

Another boring period was library period...There wouldn't be many children's story books..and even the few books they had I could not understand them as the language was above my standard in those days..I used to read Telugu magazines and story books at home but in our library we didn't have Telugu books.I remember in 8 class boys looking into national geography magazine and talking about some picture which was related to sex(not me though).

I was scared of failing a subject in exams;it was very shameful especially in annual;they would either make the student sit in same class or parents would take TC and join their kid in some other school.

I always used to feel why I am studying all these..how many of these things am I going to remember or useful to me once I grow up?

We had respect and fear of teachers. The good thing was our school used to end at 3.30 and those kids who want to stay behind and play games could play them.
Now a days children neither have discipline nor fear of exams..corporal punishment is banned.A student should be promoted to next class even if he fails in all subjects provided they have attendance.Schools are being run from 8 to 5..but I can see the standard of students coming down every year.
Going to school up to 15 years should be mandatory if you ask me.It teaches some discipline and social behaviour. It also exposes a child to different kinds of mentalitiies.A child can't be the same if he has home tuitions without going to school.
The only thing I wish for is syllabus should be reduced to a great degree.
