Its moronically utterly stupid. The reason we vote for the BJP is for economic reforms managed by a technocratic government. Putting religious apparatchiks is a sure fire way for a disillusioned young voter base that is looking for practical reforming administration that can create career opportunities for a bulging unemployed youth, to lose all hope. This will lead to violence and despair.
Religion cannot feed you, cannot provide educational or career pathways, it truly is the opiate of the masses.
Sad day to see the BJP waste this electoral opportunity for real reforms as we get dragged into a mire of fake religiosity and superficial sham reforms.

There is no comparison between Modi and Yogi. I don't know how many in UP would have voted for BJP if they knew that Yogi is the CM candidate beforehand.

Before UP elections some opinion polls showed 20-25% wanted Yogi as CM.

Lol...I agree this is a surprising decision!!
But yogi come from purvanchal....the poor region in India by far..he is a strong leader their...bjps clean sweep in purvanchal is the reason for bjp massive mandate!!
You simply can't ignore that!! And to keep the state focused on development they chose two deputy chief ministers one is from backward caste and other is a doctor!!
It's a massive risk!! But I think there is lot of strategy behind it!!
