Well the ship look more suitable for support than fighting. But don't forget one thing logistics and support inawar is as important as fighters. Look at ww2 the main target of hunter groups were not battleships but oil tanker and cargo ships.
Not because they are easier ,because you can't fight without logistics. And also it have another important value . sinking the ship made other vessels retreat from the area.

Why should you hate Muslims?

He's not religious mate. Nothing wrong with that just his views in case you are not aware of his personality.

Yemen used to be part of Persian empire, its natural that many Yemenis feel nostalgia for the Persians. I for once welcome any development where GCC pride can be shattered and drowned.

This vessel would allow quickly movement of troops, vehicles and other cargo over fairly large distances. It has the ability to recover helicopter while doing 66kn (during test, I read).

I'm interested in Pakistan as a Muslim country. However some of quotes make me wonder.

LMAO these arabs are taking the L in this war.

Saudi Arab already did it.
they need to counter iran with proxies using their back yard. iran is turning a political issue into sectarian issue. in the past it was saudi arabia who supported hothis against enemies.

It's a big shame for UAE and especially for Us to have no defence systems installed. Moreover, why didn't UAE send escort vessels with it to support it in operations.

Now, I am start to believe that Western Origin equipment aren't the best ones :)

I thanked to ALLAH that gave us and other Muslim countries minds and wills to build few things on our own. Myth Busted that expensive US and EU fighters or Ships can be helpful.

I hope to see PN will be doing JV with Turkey or China on their upcoming programs.

You can have the best equipment in the world but if the people using it are incompetent or poorly trained the results will generally be very poor, one only has to look at the military performance of the gulfies during the yemen conflict to see this,it can only be described as criminally incompetent and the sinking of this vessel is a good example of this.

It seems the competency of this Persian gulf arabs gets more negative as time goes by.

Good question. Perhaps it was not on a military mission after all?

Show me any unarmed converted civilian ferry that can withstand a hit by an anti-ship missile ...

How on earth would this case in any way reflect on the qualit of western origin equipment? You think if this was not Australian built but Chinese or Russian or Indian, it would not have gone much the same way?

In the past, the US leased this ship from the Australian company Incat. It was returned 2013 and the ended up in UAE service with the UAEs National Marine Dredging Company.

UAE's Gulf News reports:

Al Houthis slammed for targeting UAE civilian ship
Coalition launched operation at dawn on Saturday to rescue passengers from aid vessel

Published: 00:10 October 2, 2016 Abu Dhabi: The Command of Coalition Forces Supporting Legitimacy in Yemen has called the targeting of an Emirati ship carrying aid by Al Houthi militias a “dangerous indication.”

The Command announced that it embarked on a rescue operation on Saturday at dawn of the civilian passengers after Al Houthi militias targeted the civilian vessel ‘Swift’, owned by the UAE’s National Marine Dredging Company.

According to the Coalition statement, the ship was on a routine trip to the city of Aden to deliver medical and relief aid and evacuate wounded and injured civilians in order to complete their treatment outside Yemen.

“This comes as a serious indicator to confirm the orientation of these militias to carry out terrorist operations targeting international navigation and relief ships in [the] Bab Al Mandab Strait,” a Coalition statement said. “Coalition air and naval forces had started chasing and targeting of boats which carried out the attack,” the statement added.

Why it didn't had CIWS for protection?

Why it didn't had CIWS for protection?

Why would such a vessel necessitate the use of CIWS when it is on a humanitarian mission to deliver aid? The vessel allegedly used its Mark 36 SRBOC chaff dispensers.

That wasn't aid.
perfectly clear there was three explosion on the ship at 0:50
I just wonder what they transport and to where

The secondary explosions could have been of fuel, flammable compounds, on-board defensive ammunition (the Swift carries 25 mm ammunition for its defense autocannons), or a plethora of possibilities. There is zero evidence that this vessel was transporting materiel or weaponry at the time of the attack.
