Its ironic that i see some ppl here lecturing us about being Pakistani first and then something else yet day and night they would blame other ethnic groups within our boundaries for the collective problems we are facing, some even denounce us as Pakistanis( not that i would give a flying heck about them). But seeing them lecturing about unity God.....

Who has denounced you?

i think Punjabis have to suffer the most, dude if someone from FATA, Sind or KPK appears in the CSS exams and writes his name he is given preference over Punjabis, and all of them have reserved seats in everything from Unis to Jobs

Well we cant say this for every Pakhtoon, for many I have interacted with were perhaps more patriotic than I am. However, let me share a very strange incident with you.

In December, I was in Islamabad to sign some MOA with a local University. The VC of the University has been my Mentor during my University days in Quetta. We have almost 20 years long extremely cordial relationship. I was invited at his place for a dinner and many of his family members were there too. His family is highly educated and extremely well to do. One of his very close family member is serving as a Lt. Commander in the Navy. During the talk, that Lt. Commander started ridiculing Pakistan and said that the Durand line is dividing the Pukhtoons. I just could not believe my ears that a serving Navy Lt. Commander could say something like this. He went on (literally boasting) saying that I slapped my 4 years old kid for speaking in Urdu, for I want him to speak in Pushto. What? Of-course all this conversation was in Pushto but it didn't really get down my throat.

This is very disturbing trend and I am away of Pakistan for almost 15 years now. Is this a wide spread phenomena among Pakistani Pakhtoons, I hope not.

You should report that incident to Pakistani navy officials.

I have heard many Pathans saying, that they are not fairly treated in our society. For instance one of my friends were saying Pathans have to work harder than say Sindhi to achieve something. This perception needs to change, don't you think they are over reacting ,what do you guys think? or do you believe this is true. @karakoram , @DESERT FIGHTER .
Avoid trolling please.

Yes he is somewhat right in his perception, we are generally sidelined in all aspects, the social aspects particularly. For most of us not a day goes by unless I receive some kind of mockery regarding our race and the stereotypes society has set on us....

It's so sad to hear something like this, but it's not only Pathans,Balochi and maybe Gilgitis who feel something like this.Hope we can come out of this mentality one day.

How the hell?
Pathans on average are better off than Sindhis and Balochs.
And correct me if I'm wrong but you also have higher literacy than both above mentioned groups right?
Sindhis are poor as hell and Balochs I don't even know anything about them because besides existing in the map of Pakistan there is hardly ever any thing visible about Balochistan except Gwadar Port and Quetta.
IMO the order of well being by ethnicity in Pakistan goes like this:
1. Punjabis
2. Punjabis (yes I did that intentionally)
3. Urdu-speaking
4. Pathan
....
Then Sindhi and Baloch in the end.

Our identity is Pakistani. Our ethic background may be something else but our identity is Pakistani. Remember that!

you are ignorant if your identity is Pakistani before being sindi, punjabi, pathan. Pakistani is not your natural identity and if you cant be true to your natural identity how can you be true to your geographical identity (Pakistan). I guess Pakistan ka Mutlab Living in denial.

Your identity is first Muslim then Pakistani followed by wherever you are from.Unfortunately some would disagree with that.

you can sugar quote it anyway you want but reality doesn't change. Look at history, muslim fought muslim when it came to protecting their clan or ethnicity. Every human is born ethnic first then he adapts a religion and that is the natural order. But you can say you are Muslim first then Pakistani then Sindi if it makes you feel better, there is not law against pretending.

What a Faux Pas!

Lets just say that if you believe that I am ignorant for wanting to believe that I MUST acknowledge my ethnic identity before my national identity, then I will acquiesce. As for me not being true to my national identity, I don't need a NOC from you or anyone else to prove how loyal I am to this nation of ours.
