The day when Pakistanis will look beyond Sindhi, Punjabi, Baloch, Pathan. That day, Pakistan will be a force no one can break!

I just had a fight with an A$$hole the other day to who said that we are Pathans first since 6000 years or whatever, then Muslims since 1000 years (i think) and Pakistanis last.

The discussion was in the context of the ongoing war in FATa, and when I asked him why is he supporting the Taliban perspective, he gave the above answer. Wanted to beat that guy to the ground at the moment, luckily it was on facebook.

Lannti's the lot of them. Honestly if every middle class person in Pakistan donated just 100 rupees to a government that is accountable every week, just imagine according to last UN Poll, Pakistan has about 60 Million middle class. 100 rupees times 60 million.. And we can generate that every week! Imagine the difference we could make to our country.

But for that to happen, we need accountable government and people to look beyond their "Roti, Kapada, Makan" and "Sindh/Balochi", "Shia, Sunni" mentality.

Some one need to start this movement... friends of mine are already building water wells in Sindh.... and all of them are as Punjabis, as it can get.

He is balouch roaming with bad boys the pathans :-D :-D

Nah man.. im a bad arse myself..:)

Been one even in your town..:D

Yeah i did... and made alot of good frnds there... including a few from your village/town.

Had no idea but the case applies to you too.Give your thoughts.

OK.

Ive lived my life with people from every ethnic background... sindhis, kashmiris, pashtuns, shinas, punjabis, serikies, hazaras etc.. and ive never witnessed any "ethnic" hatred or racism of any sort.. yes we did take digs at eachothers which might sound racist or some other bs to some people... but that was all frndly sh!T.

I believe that we should come out of this ethnic nationalism n work for the betterment of this country... for our future generations... n hold our national identity above our ethnic one.. (although you can also be proud of your ethnicity or clan or whatever... ) but country before everything else... no BS like "ummah brotherhood" etc... Pak first.

An outsider view !

It is wrong to consider that you have to leave sindhi baluchi punjabi pathani identities in order to be a Pakistani.

You have to find some way in which both national and local identities complement each other not contrast each other.

Sindhi punjabi etc are not just languages but cultures themselves.

For e.g. In India did you ever heard of Telagu Oriya Bengali Gujrati etc seen as threat to Indian as identity. They complement each other.

Gandhi said in order to be true Indian, I have to be a true Gujrati .

Well we cant say this for every Pakhtoon, for many I have interacted with were perhaps more patriotic than I am. However, let me share a very strange incident with you.

In December, I was in Islamabad to sign some MOA with a local University. The VC of the University has been my Mentor during my University days in Quetta. We have almost 20 years long extremely cordial relationship. I was invited at his place for a dinner and many of his family members were there too. His family is highly educated and extremely well to do. One of his very close family member is serving as a Lt. Commander in the Navy. During the talk, that Lt. Commander started ridiculing Pakistan and said that the Durand line is dividing the Pukhtoons. I just could not believe my ears that a serving Navy Lt. Commander could say something like this. He went on (literally boasted) saying that I slapped my 4 kid for speaking in Urdu, for I want him to speak in Pushto. What? Of-course all this conversation was in Pushto but it didn't really get down my throat.

This is very disturbing trend and I am away of Pakistan for almost 15 years now. Is this a wide spread phenomena among Pakistani Pakhtoons, I hope not.

Ive yet to meet a Pakhtoon who is "unpatriotic" ... what ive observed is that Pashtuns are perhaps the most dynamic people in this country... hard workers....

P.S: Im from a military family...

A lot of them are misguided. If you find someone supporting Taliban on Facebook or twitter you can report them to FIA and if they are an expat, even better :P

INDIAN MEMBERS MIND YOU MANNERS!

1. In India every one speaks urdu and Hindi mix. They comes from one language called as hindustani when written in Devanagari it is Hindi and when written in arabic it is Urdu. BTW Urdu is 100% Indian language its origin in Deccan.

2. Jinnah was Indian until 1947.

Dont get me started on this BS topic... its not hindu mix.. hindi itself is a bastardised urdu with sanscrit sprinkling... ever hear your doordarshan news? kripa dail kejay "shunay shunay .. 8293734..

And it was used in muslim royal courts... and was the lingua franca of muslims...

Your identity is first Muslim then Pakistani followed by wherever you are from.Unfortunately some would disagree with that.
