World Turbofan Aircraft Engines

This is all part of the learning process. Who knows they ll restart the program again when more funding is available.

Quite like the mighty Chinese engine WS-10a which took almost thirty years to materialise.

India did failed in create an engine. So the lesson learned to not too bite off too big that you cannot chew and need to spit it back out. India should focus on purchasing a engine properly.

India did not "fail" to create an engine, yes the the project did fail to reach the requisite thrust figures. However the project has just been shelved and can be restarted when more funding is available, quite like the Chinese WS-10a(which again is reverse engineered around the civil CFM56 turbofan engine.)

So yeah we will get there.

another display of chinese IQ

hope u can grasp this:

India began developing engines for LCA because the original GE engines were denied due to US sanctions. Now all US hardwae is available, so why waste money developing them/?

Even china which spends 10 times more for defence research cant develop a descent engine, so why should we waste money?

What is the lifetime of this engines?
China's WS-10A turbofan engine has a lifetime of 1,500 hours

WS-10A engine (with gearbox at the bottom) is designed to power the J-10B Vigorous Dragon fighter. This version of the WS-10A turbofan engine is said to have 13.2 ton maximum thrust. There are several wrapped engines near the floor.

Source: Zhuhai Air Show 2014 : WS-10 engine is now fully operational and matured.

"Mr.Dong: This is wrong, WS-10's life is over 1500 hours, completely in accordance with the design requirements. 300 hours is the span between each regular maintenance."

I think the 1500 hours is the MTBO.

The WS-10 prototype has been tested for 1000 hours with non-stop, so after that, the engine will require a major overhaul.
