World Cup 2010: India's football absence examined

Exactly its affinity is based on geography. We dont have much people choosing football as a career. Just a few handful of states like punjab, Goa, kerala and BEngal have clubs which promote. There are government sports schools and private funded ones but there are not many people taking it.

Football is infact one of the least expensive sports of the world. But even in villages you will see people playing more vollyball than Football which is very strange.

We have global participation in expensive sports like cricket, tennis, badminton , snooker&Billiards, golf etc etc.. but why not this one???

thats why i called for facilities. for a country like India we need this. just anyhow...

upgrade the stadiums,
modern training grounds and complexes,
bring good coaches,
send our young players to play and learn in Latin America and Europe,
let our teams to play with some of the best teams and
bring them in India to play matches.

Over. Nothing more required. All of these could be done by efforts and money. With in eight to ten years we will see improvements, specially new talents will come up and young generation's eagerness to play football.

.
upgrade the stadiums,- we have enough football stadiums to play at bigger levels.

modern training grounds and complexes,-
bring good coaches,
- Both needed. At present few foreign players are playing in NFL and coaching is nowhere in terms of quality.

let our teams to play with some of the best teams and
bring them in India to play matches.-

We do have international participation now and then but not regularly for strange reasons , rmember 2009 nehru cup which we won and the tournament included countries like syria, Kyrgistan.. but it has less particiaption considering that the teams of Russia and Romania used to visit us regularly in tournaments in the 70's and 80's

How many of you believe that during recent India-vs-Pakistan ODI many of the Indians were watching football match!!!! It also took little space in the newspapers. :)

Actually Indians are (me as well ;) ) also very much interested in football but as India doesn't play good or we don't have facilities results only Cricket!!

exactly my point!!! that no one paid much attention to the ASIA CUP! not even south asians!! the truth is we love football but just because we are not good at it we denounce it!!
