Yes, due to cost increases in the development and probable delay, we cut the first order to 144.
Not true.

Is this accurate?
India has ordered 144 T-50s and only 86 Rafales.

While Russia only ordered 60 T-50s

And China has 200 J-10s, 273 J-11s and has 71 J-11 and 48 Su-35s

Nope, this is entirely WRONG. Rafale will be ordered in numbers of atleast 126 but more than likely the number will INCREASE to 189 or 200 later. Wrt 5th gen fighters the projections are still for 200-250+ the IAF ACM has said as much there have just been some silly news reports of late.

I have in the past trusted FlightGlobal but this sort of report really makes me question how reliable a source they are these days.

So contrary to 'popular belief'...

Pakistan Air Force has 361 active combat aircrafts.
Israeli Air Force has 243 active combat aircrafts.
Royal Saudi Air Force has 229 active combat aircrafts.
Egyptian Air Force has 450+ active combat aircrafts...
Indian Air Force has 614 active combat aircrafts...

Interesting...

Yes, due to cost increases in the development and probable delay, we cut the first order to 144. But the cut in the Rafale deal was just a rumor.

But for God's Sake 144 T50s, your Defense Ministry is going crazy i think

There were 423 combat Ac in 2010 and 373 in 2012, and now it reduced!

But it is the most reliable source available now on, isn't it!

Whats crazy about that?

32.7% of the total Indian people fall below the international poverty line of US$ 1.25 per day.
And you guys are spendiag more and more!

We spend just 2.5 % of our GDP on defence when the world norm is 3% .

Moreover security is paramount . We have to have a country to help the needed.

we are spending just 2.3% only in our GDP.

Do you have any idea how much the GoI spends on poverty alleviation per annum?? It is FAR higher than the <3% of GDP spent on defence.India spends far less of its GDP on defence than most nations around the world. Every year the GoI is making serious inroads into combating poverty and has a reduction rate few nations on earth can match. Within most of our lifetimes poverty in India will be pretty much eradicated but the security issues will remain constant. Mate by 2020 India will be spending in excess of $150 BN a year on defence, this is not a poor sub-Saharan African nation you are talking about but an emerging global force.

And I am telling you the number of PAK-FA/FGFA will be 200-250+ the 144 has been disproven by official statements.

Very interesting read

Surprised that PLAAF only has 1300 FIGHTER PLANE NOW.. & that the Flankers are the back bone of their fleet with 350 in variois models.

Indians have Very large and impressive transport fleet and big nos of speal ops planes

Israels small combat fleet of less than 300 combat planesw.

Asia Pacific has most combat aircrafts and helicopters. :undecided:
