Delhi is now India’s rape capital, show NCRB data

  • Delhi is officially the “rape capital” of India. Even while the pace of increase in the number of reported rapes in the city has slowed down, the number of such cases proportionate to its women population was higher than for any other city or State last year.

During the past years, Delhi reported a larger actual number of reported rapes than other cities, but cities in Madhya Pradesh, including Gwalior and Jabalpur, reported higher numbers of rapes proportionate to their populations. This year, Delhi is higher in both absolute and proportionate terms, show data from the National Crime Records Bureau released on Tuesday. The NCRB collates data from all first information reports filed in police stations across the country.

The city reported 1,813 rapes in 2014, up from 1,441 in 2013. While Delhi continues to lead other big cities in the number of reported rapes, the increase in reported cases has tapered after a sharp spike in 2013. In Mumbai, in contrast, while the number of reported rapes was comparatively lower, there was a sharp spike between 2013 and 2014, from 391 to 607 cases. Nearly all of India’s custodial rape — 189 of 197 cases — was reported in Uttar Pradesh, which along with Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh recorded the highest numbers of alleged gang rapes.

For the country as a whole, as the number of reported crimes against women increased to over 3.3 lakh, or 56 incidents per lakh women, the rate of increase has tapered off. There was a sharp rise in reported crimes against women between 2012 and 2013, as a result of increased awareness following the December 2012 gang-rape, but the increase was sharply lower between 2013 and 2014, the police say.

While the share of reported rape cases in which the offender was known to the victim remained significantly high at 86 per cent, it was substantially lower than in past years, when the proportion was 94 per cent or higher.

The new data all but establish Delhi as the country’s crime capital; the rate of cognisable crime under Indian Penal Code charges, which grew by only a few percentage points for the country as a whole, nearly doubled for Delhi, to 856 per lakh population.

This places the city next only to Indore in terms of cognisable crime proportionate to its population, but Indore’s crime rate grew only marginally between the two years.

Contributing to the spike in Delhi was a sharp increase in cases of robbery, burglary and theft, especially auto theft. The capital now accounts for over a fifth of all crime in all big cities.

Nationally, the country recorded nearly 34,000 murders. The country recorded 66,000 incidents of riots, but the majority was classified as not sectarian, political or caste-based but as “others”.

All statistics show u r wrong. All statistics also show ur intellectual dishonesty may have something to do with inferiority borne put of cousin marriages. Keep repeating ur bull for your pakistani inbred nation. Makes zero change to reality.
Your words proof nothing but just crap. Indians are the one who lives in dreams, if, will would world. Reality is India is famous now for raping. Western acknowledging it. You keep denying it that's good because once you accept it you will be able to fix this problem.

There is no need.

The UN statistics on rape are clear that the issue is much worse in Pakistan. Pakistanis KNOW this, hence their mudslinging.

About prostitution, they are the country of general rani. Their shameless lies come from their subconscious acceptance of their reality. I am proud of the indian people and journalists who constantly accpept and try to fix a problem. An inbred nation of people living in perverted denial can not shame us.

True.
They have no accountability on any front & specially where religious courts operate & dictate law & order. All can be sorted out in expense/excuse of religion & money. And a consistent downhill literacy rate serves well.
I am just messing with them. :enjoy:
India is an open world.People come here, get involved & see the reality.I give diddly squat to what others think.

Actually Pakistanis do not accept that Pakistan has a worse rape problem than India, because Pakistan does not have a worse rape problem than India. It is India which has a worse rape problem than Pakistan.

The statistics and the stereotypes lead to these conclusions. :D

Dude these are the same people who were jailing rape victims until recently for not arranging 4 male witnesses of good repute before their rape.

I kid u not. This was their law.

If u can wrap ur head around the reality of what kind of intellectual minds we are facing here, inbred or not, you are a genius.
You idiot, you have no knowledge of Islamic law.

Even I am not that well educated in Islamic law either. But you know nothing about the 4 witnesses thing about Rape.

So you are constituting rape as a benchmark tool!?I am sure if one of your known goes through such pain you will be busy justifying it in context of India.
And I accept Pakistan is indeed a heaven on earth,a typo where people like you live.

People come in India like any other country that's true but they take a rape story with them

Pakistan has some problems too.

For example Islamic law not is fully implemented in Pakistan. If the cutting off the hand clause from Islam was implemented, there would be less theft in the land.

Law and order issues don't represent the whole group.

It's time we all realize that and stop throwing filth at each other.

Our kids are safe nowhere!
In another horrible case, a six-year-old girl was raped by a school housekeeping staff in a posh private school in New Delhi's South Delhi area.

The girl studies in class 1 of the school and was in the school's washroom at the time of the incident, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon. The school is located in the Malviya Nagar area.

On reaching home at about 2:30 pm the girl told her mother about the incident and the parents then approached the school principal and told her what had happened. There were rashes on her private parts and was in pain, according to the mother. The principal then informed the police.

There was no lady attendant in the toilet...
Upon investigating, the police arrested a housekeeping staff who had joined the school just three months back. The parents also mentioned that what was surprising that there was no lady attendant at the time the child used the washroom.

School headmistress Sushma Manchanda said that while every washroom in the school has a female attendant, the one lady helper at that time had gone out to drink water.

“It was unfortunate that when the girl entered the washroom, the female attendant was not available, as she had gone to drink water. In the meantime, the man went inside,” Manchanda told The Indian Express.

“She had been sent downstairs for some work. After using the washroom, my daughter called the woman for help but the male employee entered and assaulted her sexually. My daughter shouted and rushed to her class,” the girl's father toldThe Hindustan Times.

The child was later taken to the All India Medical Institute where rape was confirmed by the doctors. The doctors also told the parents that due to internal injury the girl might have to undergo surgery.

“We are in shock and have nothing to say. We send our kids to get educated and not to be victims of such perverts loitering around in the schools,” an angry father told the media.

Some reports also say that the school had not verified the male staff before hiring him. A case has been registered under POSCO (The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act) against the man.

The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO)
The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) 2012 was formulated in order to effectively address sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children. Here are some points that it covers as mentioned in a previous article:

1. The act covers a child as any person under the age of 18. It defines different forms of sexual abuse, including penetrative and non-penetrative assault, as well as sexual harassment and pornography.

2. It covers various forms of sexual abuse such as penetrative and non-penetrative assault, as well as sexual harassment and pornography.

3. It deems a sexual assault to be “aggravated” under certain circumstances, such as when the abused child is mentally ill or when the crime is committed by a family member, police officer, teacher, or doctor.

4. The Act also defines the role of the police as child protectors, which means that the officials investigating a sexual abuse case of the child are responsible for making urgent arrangements for the care and protection of the child.

5. The Act provides that the special courts must conduct the trial in-camera and without revealing the identity of the child, in a manner that is as child-friendly as possible.

6. Above all, the Act stipulates that a case of child sexual abuse must be disposed of within one year from the date the offence is reported.

Scary indeed. But I won't call Pakistan rape capital of the world for this incident.
Look at how Pakistani want him punished where as you Indians defend the rapists. We are sickened by these people and want them out of our society where as you endorse them. That's the difference between us
