Indeed, But todays Vehicle lack the Muscular Look though are far more powerful than Shaktiman..... And In Shaktiman which carries School children , Has an Army guy who would Lift the primary kids and Place them inside, the Steps is as high as a 4th std Kid.... I myself have done that many a times... , Nostalgic Indeed...

Ya...and talking about steps..once i feel off from the Shaktiman truck while getting down coz the steps were not properly welded and as i stepped onto it..the whole thing collapsed...haha

And some vehicles dont have steps itself...so everytime they stop they have to open the horizontal gates or door and it is a tiring thing..

In Army whatever you get your are proud of it...and no one complains...this is the thing i like most about the Army.

Yes, But One thing it can Assure u, Even if You Hit a Water tank, You will only die if the water tank falls On you.... Otherwise It assures compete Safety ....

Well, In army what other choice do we have?? But Indian Truck Manufacturers are One of the largest in the world, So Quality is Assured... More than 30,000 Ashok Leyland trucks Serve Army...

Shaktiman trucks are No Longer Used for Army Purposes, Instead Used In Army Public School and Dropping Children From Army Quarters to Kendriya Vidyalas and Other Central Schools In the Country.....

Shaktimans have practically disappeared from the roads. Think the lot have been shifted to Cl.V. But in the NE & N. Bengal you will see ex-army disposal Shaktimans carrying sand and similar cargoes. The Shaktimans were real bone shakers, could probably revive dead bodies to life with their shaking. Even the Jongas are popular in the hilly parts of the NE, but most are re-engined with Tata 407 engines.

Hahaha.... There is another reason why Army trucks dont have good Seating and Suspension systems, It Prevents them from Sleeping ... ...

Next time You get onto an Army truck, Apply oil on your body and have a 1 hour ride, You will be massaged completely....

Good point about the Bedford RL 3 tonners. Those lorries belong to the same generation as the Shaktimans.
BTW, are these the same Bedfords that one sees on Pakistani roads with colourful wooden bodies being employed as freight trucks?

what the worse part of being in side that truck is when its empty & you sitting at the rare end of the wooden bench ,being a child weight will be less so you'll be tossed up & down ,I learned it in a hard way

You are right the RL was later modified for Civillian Cargo but i am referring to the RL Military Version:

Thanks for the clarification. The Bedfords that i pictured were the (probably) later version called FC or something that dated to the early 60s. They had a presence in India as well, being phased out in the 70s.

But welcome back anyway, i hope you are able to contribute more to the forum. Look forward to that.
